biggest reason people don't do it more often is cause you only gotta get busted once to have a really realllllly bad time
and that's just the smog part.
if he does something silly on the road and gets a "hood pop" cop, with his setup, the car will 110% be leaving on a trailer
....there's a good reason many pay insane money for pathetically mediocre setups that have the coveted CARB sticker on them.

Holy crap wow ok loooook. I know my limitations and I do have a realistic outlook.
THIS CAR IS IN NO WAY CLOSE TO BEING A REAL RACECAR. drag? No. Trans and rear suck. Autocross?? That's not racing. That's hamster masturbation. Sorry. Track??? Lollllll. My hotside is def not meant for track. Abe did a nice job enough with my mani but that thing would crumble in under an hour on the track. Also borg s366. Yes it is worlds best turbo but power curve is like

I really built it just for fun and stret race but by modern standards assuming i ever hit 600 mythical hp that is average fast car power nowadays :(

How many of you guys in California ever had a VIN checked anywhere other than the dash at the inspection station?
I suggested swapping it back immediately anyway. I would just say the car had been badly wrecked and was full of junkyard parts if anyone asked. And remove the extra VIN stickers from the junker anyway.

It's been 4 or 5 years since I last had a car inspected in CA, but my recollection is that they scan the barcode on the driver's side B pillar with a reader attached to the computer & modem which communicates with the DMV.

It might be easier to just dash swap rather than swapping vin tags. You cant drill out the rivets with the dash in if the car has a windshield. Also, exact matching rivets have to be special ordered. You need the 3/16" flange size on a 1/4" rivet and the flange needs to be painted black. When I did the dash swap I just drilled everything out to use 3/16" but it doesnt quite look right.
