Thinking ETD style, or some shorter variant of the Lovefab manifold (which would simplify intake and IC pipe :P. But we'll see... having not made one before... I'm trying to cover all my bases regarding head flange nut accesibility, turbo bolt accesibility, downpipe optimized etc... lots to think about.

Looking forward to calling it all mine... and intimidated at the same time

Made lame progress today. Did ALOT of staring at where I wanted things.

Done today:
Tacked Vband outlet onto turbine housing
Fabricated/welded/painted(not pictured) suspending arm for turbo

Placed it somewhat close to the location I had with my gt28rs and the Lovefab manifold. Figured it made oil line lengths easier and less work to fix/update my IC pipe and intake.

Going for glorified log manifold now... realizing with my time crunch... i need basic. Actually fit up two whole runners!!! .

Final design will be simple. Runner two will be short piece of straight pipe. 3 will be short piece of curved. Connecting from 1 to 4 will be straight piece. Then simple connector to t3 flange (ie: flange welded to log). Then Tial flange welded on somewhere in there.

Also got 5" springs in today. Once I get ISC tophats from Scott, I can get suspension together and lower car properly up front.

One more of the 2 runners... very productive night Oh and painted the turbo support...

Looks like a good place to fab up a BMC brace.

EDIT:

Or, on the shock tower brace I completely failed to notice in the other pics.

Yes it is. I'll be putting a 3rd point to it and make it REALLY sturdy once I get the manifold and such done.

Manifold 95% done. Just need to drill through t3 and tial 38mm openings and grind them smooth. Then its done. Small tweak to brace, as i moved the turbo bit closer to head.
My oh so organized working area...

All runners cut/formed/tight fitment for easier Tig work later

T3 flange location mockup

Runners welded up, metal spanning to t3 flange not in yet.

Buddy Jeremy tigging it up for me. I could have migged it... but I wanted that weee bit extra strength. Besides, his Tig was up for full penetration that my mig100 wouldn't have done.

Tonights menu consists of manifold finishwork, downpipe creation, wg dump, ic/intake tweaking, turbo install etc....

Almost done with downpipe. Was up til 2:30 last night and ran out of welding wire. I have half of the exhaust flange to weld, o2 bung and WG dump.

Did I miss something on the manifold? I thought runner 3 was going to be a short piece of curved.

Wasn't worth the time and effort in the end. Realize that I am using a very small t3 and only intending on maxing it out. So I went with the KISS format in the end.

Updates... IT RUNS
Smokes alot, could be turbo or could be tune or who knows.
I also have no tach/water temp/oil pressure working. Lights come on with headlights though.

Oh and I'm so low... that I couldn't drive over a soda can... on its side. Cali low does NOT work in Chicago

So... gauges... HELP :P. Then I can at least see if smoking goes away as i tune... i don't want to go out without water temp at bare minimum though.

Had fun NA. Might keep it like that for next event! :P

Anyways, managed to have a chunk of weld blow off runner two at the header head flange. Had a local place weld it up and went back on track. Had great sessions. 1 later though, car cut out, ignition dropped mid session on a straight away. LOOKs to be CAS. So I got her towed home via AAA+.... I love free tows...

Ah well. Had a blast on track, suspension is almost perfect. The thing handled so nicely, have a bit of rear bouncy, might be hitting bumpstops at full turning G/tilt. Otherwise, everyone who i passed... yes... i passed people in Integra TypeRs/etc.... with a stock 1.6l NA :P, all commented on how much cornering grip i had and how fast I was cornering. I was smiling.

Turbo goes out Tuesday to get rebuilt, so i'll either be turbo for WMHM.org event... or NA and then turbo after it. I shall triumph!!!!

For now... some tow pics :P. I'll post up track pics as people post up ones they took. Everyone loved the miata... was fun see people stare... at the EPIC interFooler :P

Not this event. Spent so much time just running around/wrenching etc... that video was neglected. I'll try to get some at the next event.

Sad times. I ran with the waste gate disconnected for a couple weeks while my big injectors were being serviced. Granted I had ~2-3psi way up at red line, but the reliability and piece of mind was nice to have for once.

Kudos on the quick and dirty NA setup, I'm liking the simplicity of it.
