Yeah... I really really like them.

Did we find out if Josh has a heat gun? Paging Josh.

Rick, Yeah passenger side is still messy. Let's not talk about the passenger side

If Mr. Man in the classifieds will answer my PM's, we'll get things rolling on the appearance side of things.

That being said: There is much to do and I have limited funds. Still on the list, in no particular order:

-passenger side mess
-re-tune... it really needs this. This is actually probably tops of the list honestly.
-replace heater core
-oh yeah... the whiny throw-out bearing. I guess this needs to be tops too.
-find a place to put my hardtop so I can drive it top down like God intended
???
profit. Maybe. I need to sell this Kia. Anyone want a Kia?

I have a heat gun. I assume you want the real thing, super-heat capable of taking the paint off. If so I got that.

I also have a lower-wattage modelling type heatgun, suitable for heat-shrink film etc. It won't melt the insulation off wiring like the big gun though.

Looks good.

Richard, there is a Saturday night fender rolling party at my place. Bring your heat gun(s).

Does anyone know anything about these seats? I can't seem to find dimensions or really anything useful online. They look pretty good and the price is ridiculous.

NRG Innovations FRP Bucket Seats UNIVERSAL

Edit: Ah, found the dimensions. Still looks pretty good I think... Then again, I don't really have a clue...

Well, I ordered one, if anyone is watching. Went with the 310, medium. For $180 shipped it's worth a try. If I love it, I'll buy another and ditch this Sparco.

Anyone wanna buy an MSM black & red passenger seat?

Here's a pic of the trunk. You can't see it here, but the racing stripes that were on it left the paint darker underneath them and its really really obvious. I'm hoping a nice polish will even it all out. Crossing fingers.

In other news, I couldn't find the oil leak today. Wiped everything down on the underside of the engine, ran it for about 15 minutes, shut it down. Can't find drips of oil from any one source, yet it is dripping off the bottom of the oil pan.

Is it possible that the rivets holding the VIN plate on could leak? Seems like a seriously dumb question but I'm kind of a dumb guy so it's fitting. Going to take a look underneath again tomorrow night. Might end up paying CSTG to sort it out. I will not have much time to work on the car and I'm going to sign up for a track day at PIR for July 31.

the rivets don't go through the oil pan. they just burrow into it

You need a clean engine, dye and black light to really trace an oil leak.

If it's a running leak, then seals next to moving components are likely suspects (main seals, cam seals, etc.).

How much dye do you typically use? We tried this on my friends eclispe the other night and, using a the entire little $8 1oz bottle, the leaked oil did not glow under black like.

Well, that's all I've used in the past and it's always glowed well. You do need to run a bit so the dye has a chance to thoroughly mix with the oil.

I guess that's the next step. I will climb under it again tonight to see what the seepage from yesterday has left me with, MAYBE I'll be able to figure something out.

I wish we had the time to do this when we had the subframe off the car

Poked around under the car tonight. Was mystified at the source of the oil. Then I saw what I thought was a casting imperfection. I wiped it clean and it looked like this:

Sat there and watched it quickly turn into this:

Argh.

JB weld time it seems.
