He's local out this way, that car is absolutely incredible and I got to see it in person when it came out of paint. I bought his stock NB2 nose after he put the MSM nose on it.

LOL you guys are hilarious.

I'm gonna be honest.. that color does NOTHING for me. I like the darker blue on the 10AE but not that crystal blue. I don't dig it.

I think I like this better:

High res pictures of the only Sapphire Blue Mazdaspeed Miata in existence.

Either way, my front bumper from my car is totally still usable, so if I get a 10AE and decide I absolutely MUST have the MSM bits, I could easily fix up the bits and have them painted.

OK.

So... I'm now searching for a clean 10AE, as cheap as possible.

Well... at least, I'll be ready to buy before the end of April.

Even so, Vlad, I'd be interested to hear back when you can. You responded to my first PM but not the one where I asked more specific questions RE: paint job and stuff on your '01. I still love white.

Let the legacy of Vlad's NB live on! Plus you know what you are getting from him.

It's an awesome-looking car. It's an awesome car. I've PM'd him about it, if we can work something out that'd be sweet. If not, that's OK too. The great thing about NB's (particularly MSM's and 10AE's) is that super clean ones are relatively common. Most really clean MSM's are still priced at $12k or even more sometimes, but super clean 50k mile 10AE's can be had for less than $9k. Clean '01-'03 SE's can be had for $7k ish with original paint and 60k-ish miles. I still am strangely attracted to the '00 SE's and they're the cheapest of them all but eggplant. Not my first choice, so why do it? If I could have many miatae, one would be an '00 SE. But alas, I cannot.

It's got to come down to whatever I can get the best deal on. I've seen at least 3-4 cars EXACTLY what I want sell for prices I'd be willing to pay here on MT within the last year. Something will come up.

What do y'all use for nationwide craigslist searches? I've been using zoomthelist but not loving it.

Well, for those three in particular:

The first and last ones are automatics, so they're out. I will likely be driving this car for a bit before I can do the swap and want a manual. If they were $4k I'd consider it but not for what they're asking.

The middle one is a 5-speed and 145k miles. I could pay $2500 more for one with 1/3rd the miles and a 6-speed (10AE), plus a 10AE is a color I love (not into silver) and already has the little sport body kit and stuff. What can I say? I'm a sucker for good looks too.

If I was to consider a local car that isn't a 10AE, it'd be this one:

2002 MAZDA MIATA MX5 CONVERTIBLE * LOW MILES * SUPER SPORTY !!!!!!!!!!

If I were going to buy a car this week though I'd call up that $9500 10AE in WA and offer them $8k.

We'll see what changes next week

At least you all know I'm not just pulling your chain and I AM capable of buying something (and then wrecking it )

A little! If I preferred silver over blue then that'd be a good choice. Comparing it to this car:

1999 Mazda Miata Anniversary Edition

This one is listed for $1500 more, but it has just over half the miles. Since this one includes the hardtop then it makes it a no-brainer to sell my hardtop, which should be worth around $1,000. I'd pay $500 more for the 10AE over that silver one since I LOVE the blue.

You're helping me make my decision, thanks!

P.S. I just decided to tow my car to my house since things were up in the air. I'm still open to crawling under it at some point to have a look. It's just sitting in my carport...

Edit to add: This looks like SERIOUSLY minor damage. This would make things super easy to swap over. But more miles... hmm... What do you guys think? Could get it, sell the extra parts, swap over my rear bumper onto it and have it up and running. If I were to get it and it doesn't meet my standards, I could still do just the bumper swap to get it whole again and sell it for profit....

I imagine there is more to it than that.. You'd have to see what the bumper support and unibody look like underneath that bumper.

OK, so I'm getting ready to buy.

That super super clean 10AE in Puyallup is still available. I've offered the guy $8k. He gave me a counter offer and I told him I can't pay more than $8k. I think there's a good chance I can buy it for not much over that.

I can get financing from my credit union at 2.9% on it (yes, even on a '99). I'd have to come up with a bit of cash to not finance too much but that's no problem.

What do you all think? Super clean 10AE, 49k miles, hardtop, garage kept, mint, just had the TB/water pump done with receipts.

I think I'ma buy it next week.

Seriously. Buy that ****. Lock it down. Also **** you and your awesome interest rate. I had my credit rating ruined when I was 17 from small claims court(I paid in full but it stays on your record) and it lasts another 5 years. Ruined my credit rating.

45k and a hardtop and all service done. Can't get better than that easily.

Thanks for the input Jeff and fireindc (what's your name, anyhow?) Talked with the guy some more. He's not budging from $8500.

I'm there for $8k but super hesitant at $8500. I'm torn because every time I look at David's car (the perfect 10AE with the nickel 6UL's I posted earlier) I feel like that's what I want. But I expect I can buy Vlad's car for considerably less, and it's a sick car too.

Can I make the $8500 happen? Sure. Do I want to? I'm not totally sure. This car will be a weekend and fun day only car. I have wondered if it's worth the extra money to get one this clean, but even ones with considerably more miles and no hardtop (but clean) are listed for over $7k. There's another one in WA with 32k miles and no hardtop, guy wants 10k for it. So it does still seem like a good deal. It's just a lot of money.

Help me out here guys. WWMTD??
