the worst part is after it all happened and the smoke was bellowing out he got back next to me and threw the thumbs up with a huge smile then took of and continued on with is day.

it takes him 6 hours to build an engine

it takes him 2-3 weeks to get a fuzzy picture taken with a potato

I think it was a bad e85 blend and detonation. I was just talking to my boss about this tank getting 22+mpg when i usually average 18ish. Not enough ethanol could have caused it

the less ethanol content the richer your car would have run
also you were running little girl timing, not MAN timing, and same boost, so no, I highly doubt it was the blend.

if you were running 20+ degrees and high boost then maybe, but you were not doing either

i just towed it to my work tonight . the exterior damage is almost nonexistent. theres just a vertical crack on front of cylinder 3 that bulges out a bit. i should have it out on sunday for pics.

pulled the pan off before i left work today. it has a pretty good hole in it and i was able to recover most of the piston. the rod and the wrist pin are no where to be found. i have one rod stud without a nut on it that i found in with the oil pick up.
