Default exhintake and Turbo ?

Did the exhaust intake swap when I first got my Miata. 4 months later im planning a turbo setup using a sr20 T25. I havent heard much if the exhintake swap is bad when it comes to boost. I can find very very little info on the subject which surprises me.

Should I swap back to a stock intake cam or leave things how they are ?

Messiahx...Your setup is alot like what im planning, im using a Sr20det T25 turbo which i have seen is close in size to a Gt2554. Ever get your car on a dyno ?

No, unfortunately I never dyno'd it back when I had that setup. I ran 14-15psi and it was plenty enough to be entertaining. No place in 2nd gear it wouldn't light the tires up. I eventually had (caused) a catastrophic failure that cracked the block, blew holes in the oil pan, etc. New build is close to being road ready...2871 + fully built bottom end. Back in the day Savington ran an expertly tuned track-only gt2554 setup and IIRC he achieved 230whp.

As far as the exhintake...it makes a very small bump when N/A, so it'll make just a little bit more of a difference turbo. I went ahead and did the swap on my new motor.

Curious what did you do that you think caused your engine to fail ?

I made tuning mistakes early on that put my engine through a fair amount of knock. I suspect that after that it was just a matter of time -- the engine was running better than ever when it finally let go, 2 years later. I wasn't even in boost, just cruising at about 80 on the highway when I heard godawful metallic sounds followed by the whole car shaking. Made it the next mile to an offramp on 3 cyl and no oil lol.
