Congrats miatamike! I previously ran a modified Greddy Turbo setup and I think that an Evo 3 16g would be the ultimate Miata turbo. I used to run one on my Mitsubishi 4G61 (1.6L) Turbo Mirage and it was an awesome setup. When I had one on my 91 Talon, spinning all four tires through first gear was as easy as dropping the hammer from a roll.

I ended up choosing a T3/T4 for my Miata upgrade though since the tried and true exhaust manifolds are so affordable/plentiful. I'll always have that 16g in the back of my head though - especially after seeing your dyno run! Great stuff!

Nice power. How's the boost response -- any more plots/impressions? Evo IIIs are not twin-scroll, right?

Correct. They run your standard Mitsu inlet design on the turbine housing. They also have that absolutely stupid step bult-in there that gets removed with a die-grinder within 4 minutes of opening the box. I doubt a true twin scroll turbine housing/manifold would really improve the performance meaningfully on a 1.8L engine.

I really think I might go with a 16G for my Miata setup, though I just sold my E3 to a freind. They are just one of the best all around turbos in existence. The durability is just awesome.

The boost is great im at 20psi by no less then 4k but my manifold is also cracked so now i just took everything off until my new manifold for my v-band HTA3076r is done. then ill have new number and ill try and see if i can get my spool on my dyno sheet also. also the evo3 16g are not twin scroll they started doing that in the evo6.

Turbo not hit block!

Seriously though, even if the mani is a bit odd looking to me.

I wonder if BEGi has considered that as a common peice/option on kits.

In for data on how fast the HTA comp wheel goes from ~5psig to ~15psig. The HTAs are said to shine in that regard. Which sounds pretty badass to me. You get that old-school rip-your-head-off feel, but with much better efficiency in the bargain.

I know thats conventionally considered a no-no, but I ran a wierdo setuup on my DSM that had a mild steel 1.5" tube welded into a stock 2G cast-iron mani for a TiAL 38 because the IWG would not cut it and I wanted to experiment/be cheap. The guy who welded it is amazing. I ran it every day, tons of heat cycles, never a crack. I will get some pics when I am home again.

im test fitting it in tomorrow then once the new tial 38mm v-band wastegate comes in witch should be this weekend ill have the flange welded to the manifold and everything bolted up then onto the dyno. Im lucky with dyno time and use of the dyno seeing as how i know the owner well so he lets me use it late at night once there done with it.
