Default Knock Sensor Location 1.6 NA

I've got a recently rebuilt N/A 1.6 motor thats running Wiesco pistons (.40 over and .5 bump in compression). I've got a MSPNP in the car and want to add a knock sensor to make sure I can keep tabs on detonation as I start to fine tune.

I ordered a NB (99-05) OEM knock sensor and am looking for a good location to mount it. I've heard/read that on the block b/w the #2 and #3 cyl is the ideal location.

One thing i noticed while looking around the motor is that there are threaded holes on the head that match up perfect with the knock sensor... question is will it work here or is there to much "noise" from the valve train to pick up the detonation pulses?

Attached are pics of the location I'm talking about as well as the style sensor I have...

OEM location is a threaded boss just above the oil pressure sensor port. I'd go there.

FWIW, I was unable to fit the 1.6 oil pressure sender + the knock sensor on my 1.8.

Opted for a relocation kit for the sender.

same issue here...no clearance.

Does anyone know the threads size (NPT/BST) on the boss above the oil sender? If I relocated the oil pressure sender to the firewall, will the NB knock sensor fit or do I need an adaptor?

I bought the miatacage.com relocation kit. It's not cheap, but its quality and no-hassle.
After that the NB sensor fit great.
