are you using the honda IACV on the manifold ? Also how did you come up with the 11" optimum runner length? when i built my manifold i used formulas from the manual to our super flow flow bench, they calculated runner length from the back of the valve to the end of the runner, are you calculating this the same?

I didn't calculate it. I individually asked two very smart guys who know about this stuff the same question and got the same answer from both. Plus thats how long the OEM Mazda runners are. Plus we tested it and it works.

99 block, 8.6 ST pistons, stock VVT head (VVT not being used at the moment), GTX2867R @ 14psi (198 kPa) w/ .86 turbine housing. Godspeed (looks same as Blox) intake mani with Godspeed (again, looks just like Blox) 68mm TB.

I don't have any sort of realistic before comparison, just wanted to throw it on here for 'data'. I should have gone to 7500 RPM or so to see what happened to the HP curve (drop/climb/maintain). As I continue to up the boost on my build I'll post more info in this thread. Either way it definitely shifts the powerband to later RPM. I should have measured my runner lengths before I bolted it on, eh?

Emilio,
If one were to construct an intake as you describe where would the runner length be measured from when considering the velocity stack inside the plenum? Would it be at the widest part of the mouth? Or the point at which the stack tapers to the diameter of the runner?

Thanks!

Previous page.

Edit: Couldn't obtain run file from other dyno operator so no A/B. Made about 6whp more than square top and peak power moved up about 300rpm. If we could fit another 1.5" of runner length in there, I think we'd find another 5-10whp.

First I've heard of it. Would be amazing, $360ish for a decent intake manifold that was lighter and better flowing than a flat top.

I sent a email asking about a intake manifold and put a link to this thread. This is what they sent me back.

"Thank you for that John. I forward the email to the R & D department and they actually told me we are already looking into it and have some in production for testing. I would keep an eye on our website, facebook and instagram page as those are the first place to release teaser pics & video. Thank you again for the suggestions.

Kind Regards,

Liz"

They've been saying that they wanted to work on it. They talked to me about the possible interest the Miata community would have in it.
Why me? No clue, I'm nothing special haha.

Nice to see they are actually keeping their word.

I do not know Honda manifold pricing is that what they charge normally? It's funny to think about how much OEM square tops fetch these days compared to a aftermarket unit from Skunk2.

Yeah if you look at the link at the top of this page there's a rather nice honda manifold that retails for $360.

Now that all the Honda Geh Boyz are jumping into the Miata "Game" the market for Skunk2 miata products must look much, much more promising...

I doubt anything will be made or released any time soon tbh
I hope I'm wrong, but companies do this crap all the time: "Something might be in teh works some time, so go ahead and subscribe to all our advertising and check all our websites every day because within the next 20 years we might put something out that you're looking for"

herp derp

yeah okay
