Default "Charge Battery" Light at Idle

So, I've noticed recently that if I have my headlights on at night that the charge battery light comes on. It gets worse if the radio/sub is on.This usually only happens around idle, which immediately told me alternator.. Took the alternator to Advance and it checks out just fine. I have an Optima Red Top that's maybe 5 yrs old, but my understanding is that those should last for damn near forever. Also something that just crossed my mind was that I did install new slim fans that may be using more electric than the previous ones. Unfortunately electricity has never been something that I have excelled at understanding.

With that being said, any ideas?

Thanks!

Michael

Did you test it while having a box of Krispy Kremes in your "need to know" pose just outside Area 51?

start by checking belt tension and the condition of the belt. Same belt runs water pump so you don't really want that one to go.

Yea, it really seems like the alternator. If it was a $20 part I would have done it already, but they want like $150. I guess I should prob just bite the bullet and hope for the best. Anyone know of any cheaper sources for an alt?

Thanks
Michael
