Connector Witch Hunt

Agreed. The 99/00 coil pack uses a 4 pin connector where only 3 pins are populated.
I noticed the Ballenger Miata page has the same 3 pin connector listed for 1989 - 2005, but I believe that specific 3 pin connector only fits the 01-05 factory quazi-COPs. I cannot comment on the 89-97 fitment, but I know its wrong for 99/00.

The connectors are all the same family until the NC, so let's just refer to them by the number of ways. IIRC, VVT is a variable too. So, how does this play out? If we can get something settled here, I will put it up and we can have a good reference going forward.
1989 = 3 way?
1990-1997 = 4 way with 4 wires
1998 = 3 way?
1999 - 2000 = 4 way with 3 wires
2001 - 2005 = 3 way
2006+ = new style 3 way

There is no 98. 95.5-97 are 4 way with 3 wire. I had to double check the 90-93, I think I'm wrong on those. They look to have a female 4 way connector on a small pig tail off the coils that goes to the ignitor.

Oo, I have a request! Has this one been identified yet?
Using the Ballenger nomenclature this would be "Ignition Subharness Connector" AKA the 4 pin (2x2) Ignition connector that lives next to the 8 pin (4x2) Fuel Injection connector where the engine and chassis harnesses come together at the front of the engine
Ignition Subharness Plug (engine side)
Ignition Subharness Receptacle (chassis side, see image in my previous post)
I'd eventually like to roll my own injection/ignition harness from scratch.

Thanks for the offer. We might get to that point but I am just adding the parts we can bit by bit over time as adding these parts is just something I am adding in my free time. Interestingly, the data from the google spreadsheet doesn't match up well with some of the information in the thread. I will try to update it when I get a chance.

Now this isnt a miata part. Does anyone have a suggestion for a truely safe 10 or 12 gauge 2 way or 1 way bulk head fitting for fuel tanks. I want to run high gauge wire directly to my new pump because the tiny 18ga that comes stock on the car gets scary hot running the wally 400e85. Right now I'm finding some ghetto looking insulated and mostly sealed terminal lugs. Or actual fuel tank rated bulk heads but they only go up to 14 amps per pin. Or also wire pass throughs that are sealed, which are just asking for death since the fuel is just going to wick up the wire braid and eventually start dripping out right next to the relay.
After looking up the current draw on the wally 400E85, its only going to see over 14 amps when I run ALLOFIT. So I guess this is the best option for not killing myself. I'll just run double wires to each connection. http://www.racetronix.biz/itemdesc.a...WS-001&eq=&Tp=

Seems I still need to update all that coil data. Added NC MAF Connector here:

Not sure why they dont have it, the 95.5+ miatas use the sumitomo DL normal 4 position (female on the coil side). And the 94-95.5 use the sumitomo DL 6 position with one blanking plug because it uses 5 pins.

We are getting both in (4 way and 6 way dl), it just takes time for production and shipping from Japan. The Miata stuff we just put out to help enthusiasts and typically isn't a positive earner so I end up adding the items and fixing the listings when I can find time. Hopefully it helps people out and I genuinely appreciate all the effort in this thread both as an enthusiast/racer myself and for the purpose of making the parts available for others.
