Default My jacked up car

So I picked up my car from paint, and it has acquired a weird rattle. It sounds like its coming from the turbo or downpipe and not the motor thank god. I pulled over on the way home from the paint shop and the damn DP was glowing red. Anyway, enjoy. On another note.. YouTube really makes videos significantly darker then their original format.

I wonder how much the paint people beat on the car. That doesn't sound good.
If the DP is glowing, thats pretty good amount of heat... maybe cat is clogged? (if u have a cat?) If heated from cat and a clog... maybe hurt turbo.

Well, I doubt they beat on it too much more then I normally do. There is a heat shield there, but I put my hand on it to see if it was vibrating and that is not the issue. The cat is some 3" ebay thingy, so I'm willing to bet that it is just toast. Either way, i'm gonna pull the turbo and replace it w/ my 2871 at the same time.

if it is the turbo, make sure it's not a lubrication issue before you slap you your gt2871r on it

Judging by that video it sounds like the turbo. Hard to tell exactly. Take the intake tube off and feel the shaft play on the turbo. If you don't find anything disconnect your downpipe and run it open downpipe. Something like that.

Yeah thats what I plan on doing. I spun the turbo just fine and it had no play. Just need to wait til it gets a bit warmer.

I have to say, if you are suspecting that the guys at the paint shop took your car for a spin, you take it very well. I would have been pissed!

Well... I got a paint job done for 800 bucks... If I picked up the car and it had a blown motor or diff or something, then heads would roll. Turbo's do die, and I doubt they could have done something to kill my turbo that I wasn't already doing since my 2871 is sitting in my apartment The really shitty news is that my custom 3" exhaust has the cat welded in-line. So it looks like I am gonna try to swap the turbo, and if that fails... gotta physically cut the cat out.
