Default Help! No power to the car. '92 1.6

Hello all
I was installing hard dog hard core roll bar in my miata but after I finished decided if wanna go on a test drive.(duh)
problem is when I turned the key I got nothing. No sounds no lights. My radio didn't turn on. Neither did my headlights when I tested them. I checked the battery and the terminals they seem fine. Fuses are good. I'm concerned I ripped a wire bundle or something when I was installing the right side of the bar but from what I can see I have no damage to wires. What's going on?

I can't imagine that the holes you drilled are near any important wiring, but start checking there first. Second, if you blew a fuse somewhere, it would be a great idea to figure out why said fuse blew. 3rd, take a meter to your battery terminals and make sure you're getting at least 12v. Then go from alternator terminal to ground and you should get a similar reading. Report back with findings.

Check for power at the main relay at the under hood fuse/relay box or the starter solenoid if you can . The battery isn't dead is it ? ( had to ask ) .

The only thing I can think of is the positive battery cable that runs right beside the passenger rear-most leg of the rollbar. Sure you didn't pinch it or nick it while drilling holes? It exits the interior thru a grommet then runs down to the PPF/starter.

So I tested the batteries yesterday (before I prayed to the gods of miata turbo.net for help)

Bat 1: 0.84
Bat 2: 11.34

Today
Bat 1: 7.45v
Bat 2: 0.38v
WTF?

I tried both any way and I got lights (dim flickering on the gauge cluster & red LED on the radio), clicking , wipers(veeeeerrrrrry slow), but no headlights.

I'm going to orileys later to swap batteries and try a new one.

I'm thinking the cold weather did this but can it kill batteries so quickly?
If so what can I do?

My Miata has only one battery. What are you reading?

EDIT: Maybe you left the cabin lights in the doors open/lights on position and had the doors open the whole time.

I have a barn find miata I was using till the frame rail rusted through and snapped on the drives side. Still runs.

I was swaping batteries with that and the miata that suddenly decided to not turn on.

And I'm usually good at remembering lights and doors

Looks like you have pinched a wire to ground some where.

No cold weather wont kill a healthy battery. Did you measure voltage while lights/etc were on?

I'd find the problem before connecting another battery. Disconnect the battery and check all your fuses.

Wiring diagrams: http://www.mellens.net/mazda/

With battery removed: Check to see if you have continuity between battery pos + and ground.
