Get over yourselves
A lot? You mean like 99% of them? I've been in motorsports for at least 15 years now and have never seen the kind of **** most of these honda kids bring to the table. The **** talking, fist fights, weapons, theft, etc..

9 Second civic from Kansas city. The builder of that car has owned the fastest honda in KC for around 10 years now. 100% street driven with slicks runs 9s. He recently parted out the car because hes tired of weekly replacement of his transmission.

I said there are fast hondas out there, just not nearly the number drivers seem to think.

Agreed, i know people that have put together cars capable of 12's and couldn't out run a 300z. Hooking them up, winding them out, and shifting is everything. You miss one in the equation your screwed.

I can proudly say I have never owned a Honda, although the s2k and Odyssey are nice.

I think speed is relative, in my 01 gsr i ran faster times at autox events than many "faster" cars. This was in STS trim, running only suspension and good tires. The handling and balance of the car is great specially when you diminish understeer with the right spring rates and sway bars.
What im trying to say is altough my car probably would run 15's in the quarter, it ran faster lap times than cars that are capable of 12's. Speed is relative.

Honda's (despite the ricers/thieves/thugs/fanboys/jdmscene) are great cars. Altough hard to classify them all alike when comparing a s2k to a crx.

i say all this but i think im going to enjoy my new miata alot more

You're absolutely correct. Great example, at KCRSCCA there are 2 nearly identical Honda S2ks. Both are 2002s, both have stock suspension, both running R-Comps. One is significantly faster around the track than the other one is. The faster laps are performed by the naturally aspirated car, and the slower laps (even with a GOOD driver) are from a supercharged car. In straight line its painfully obvious which is quicker..

One of the fastest cars at the events is typically a CRX setup for 100% auto-x

Man you guys really dont like hondas. I have to say I enjoy driving my miata alot more than my turbo integra. But in a start line my integra will leave my miata like its standing still. Where Im from Hondas are king of the straight line. We have several integras over 500hp and my buddy which was featured in Modified Mag as a cover and in their calender has approx 700whp. Its always fun to go out and race modded motorcycles on the interstate. Just remember when you pull up beside any vehicle you may be beaten. All in all I still think miatas are some of the funnest cars on the road and will never get rid of mine unless its for a newer one.

Anyone know how a modular 4.6 reacts to intake/exhaust/tune? I just put 2.5 lengths on an '02 GT with exhaust and tune (from what I know) from 30 to 130. It was definitely not a walkover like I expected it to be.

Yikes...not doubting you but the GSR must not have been on the ball. I had a GS-R with bolt-ons and ITR cams and although I couldn't launch it for ****, it trapped about 93 mph in the quarter.

Most Honda SOHC engines (D, J, etc.) are non-interference, but most DOHC VTECs (C, B, K, etc.) are interference. I'm sure the Honda engineers would make them all non-interference if they could, but in order to spin to 8k-9k RPM and still make power, and run the higher compression (generally) of the DOHC engines pretty much requires the engine to be interference.

Why's it such a bad thing, anyway? Just change the timing belt on schedule and don't worry about it!

Agree with Splittime about the Honda scene. Those who are serious keep away from the Pep Boys crowd as much as possible. Kinda funny to me, a stock-looking Honda is more likely to be quick than a kitted, slammed one with neons and a garbage can exhaust tip.
