Alright. I've been reading and planning for a while. I'm about to go a head and buy my last round of parts and I wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything.

I've purchased Tasty.Danish's old 97 1.8l with 160,xxx and tore it open. The engine looks good. All the bearings were within factory specs. The head did look a little rough but everything else looked in great condition. It already had some RC550 injectors which I had rebuilt and flow tested. So I'm going to just reuse those (I remember seeing something that emilio posted against RC injectors but I haven't found anything else bad against them...)

I have a Mazda full rebuild kit with all the gaskets and shiz. I also got some ARP head studs. I'm buying new bearings, thrust washers and a boundary street oil pump within the next week. I'm going to drop the head off to the local machine shop to get rebuilt and cleaned up soon as well.

I happened to come across a flying miata I turbo kit for a 1.6 (I'll be putting the turbo manifold up for sale soon) with a relatively fresh GT2560R and intercooler included. I'll be looking for a 1.8 manifold after I get the 1.6 one sold. I'm planning to buy a megasquirt of some kind to run things (Or shuiend will kill me...). I will be picking up some forged connecting rods and some forged pistons since I have the engine in pieces (Is that over kill for a GT2560?).

I have been looking into the cooling re-route and running a rx7 oil cooler (since I have a few laying around) but I'll be pursuing those once I start hitting track days.

My plans for the car is to terrorize the Modified class in auto x, see the occasional track day and some weekend street duty. I'll be happy with around 200-220 rwhp so I believe my turbo choice will be fine. Is there anything I've missed that I should be looking at or does my engine plan look solid?

Thanks for looking at my thread.

Beauty, love the front air dam.

From what I've seen the turbo is fine for that goal but it does seem like the forged internals are a bit overkill for your power goals. If you're going to go one way or the other with it, though, I would say better to do that with AutoX than to try and skimp your way to the finish line.

Picture looks nice, and the setup sounds good. Keep us updated on the build!
Highly recommend the Megasquirt and coolant reroute!

Thanks
