Both can be riced, lowered and hellastanced, so both are equally good.

Sale pending on the s2k!

Been looking for a miata hard on craigslist... I can't help but be drawn to the boosted ones here and there. Just nervous to buy one already built knowing so little about boost at this point.

Don't have the time to drive it any more with 2 kids. Looking to sell or trade for a subaru wrx, or a gc impreza 2.5rs. Maybe some other things show me what u have.

Sounds very similar to my car, except mine is a 99.

Green items are items I have in my build
Red items are items I would like to have

Mlev,

How do you like the suspension setup?

Can you comment on positives and negatives to the build?

Now that I look, mine are actually revalved bilsteins instead of Konis, but it'll do the same stuff. almost identical spring rates, and same "ground control" setup.

It's awesome. I use it for autocross, so it's not hellaflush but it's hellafunctional, and it's raised up ALMOST as high as it will go. I could drop it until the oil pan was on the ground if I was an idiot.

Positives: it's quick, the turbo is great, begi mani should be reliable, MS PNP makes things easy, injectors give you enough headroom for what you need, the MTX-L is awesome... idk, it's basically exactly how it "should be done" if you're looking to keep things simple, but not use bandaids to get it there. i'm sure we won't be the only two with setups almost exactly like this.

Negatives: My turbo fell apart.

Seriously though, I think my only regret is that I didn't do it 3 years ago. I wish I had been driving this car ever since I got my "big boy" job. But I probably would have botched it all to hell back then.

Mlev I really appreciate the info man... I am not real fond of red but w/e. The Enkei 92s got to go though. What wheel and tire setup are you running?

Can you elaborate on the fact that your turbo fell apart?

He said he is pushing 220hp which I kind of like because I would say its more reliable/simple....

He mentioned he was pretty firm on the price and I havent really offered anything to him yet.

Here are some more photos I had him send me...

Just over 220hp at the crank sounds about right for 11psi on that turbo.

I'm running C1Ms with "pixie dust" toyo proxes R1Rs right now. Have run 6ULs in the past. Would rather go back to 6ULs, but I've been putting money under the hood lately.

I paid $4k for a stock 97 and I paid $7k for a fully built and prepped STR 99 with 83k miles and all high quality/espensive bits (flyin miata stuff, not ebay).

Miatas tend to be a lot more expensive up here in the 'rust belt' than they are elsewhere.. finding a clean miata for less than $5k is rare, and none of them are turbo.

When it comes to buying a car, if you have the money and you would rather have the car than the money, it's "worth it". Maybe if you search for a while you could get a "nicer" car, or get one for less money.. but at the end of the day if you're going to get $7,500 worth of fun out of the car, it's a good buy. The turbo alone is ~$1,200.

Also, keep in mind that this car weighs ~1,000 lbs less than your S2k, so the power:weight will surprise you. Your turbo will likely spool faster than VEE TEK kicks in, too.

nope

Revalved billies are not even close to OTS Konis. The billies are wesome, the koni's are borderline crap.

My s2k weighs about 2650 (curb)

Isn't the miata 2300 stock in 94? Plus turbo...

Don't be too upset though, that car looks relatively decent. I see a begi log, garret turbo, pretty clean looking setup. Definitely not bad.

Its probably close to 2300 with the turbo stuff and the roll bar and all that. You can def get it closer to 2100 with some basic weight redux stuff

it looks and sounds like its pretty well sorted.

I'd check for leaks, check compression/leakdown, the basic stuff. there's a whole list on m.net I think
