Default Look at this hood design

So Chaser posted over on the other forum the NA extraction hoods they finally received. But part of the pictures and description got me thinking:

The hood is also "Flared" which means the back edge is raised and vented to extract more heat.

My understanding has always been that an opening designed like that would be induction rather than extraction. I'd like to know if that's incorrect. If I am correct though, what will this hood do to the airflow through the engine bay considering the extraction vents?

My favorite products are the one where the designers proudly display their lack of understanding in the product description. That hood will increase engine bay pressure by opening up a high-pressure vent at the back, and the vent at the front will become less effective as a result.

I'm with Savington. It is just a fiberglass/CF layover showcar piece. Not to mention if you followed their Hardtop groupbuy on CR.net.... quality and such is crap.

They are a knockoff crappy import bodykit company. Not much more.

That's what I was thinking, with that vent at the rear it kinda cancels the extractors out. I can see air getting pulled out thru the extractors and then going right back in thru the vent at the rear.

Agree with all of the above. If anything, those vents in the back should be covered. Im sure itll cool the engine bay off a bit with those vents in the back closed.

If you need an extractor hood there's only three options I would consider.

A. Buy a hood from rharris.
B. Find a used FM hood.
C. Put and extractor scoop in your stock hood. Use either a Mini Cooper hood scoop flipped around, or use the Carbon Trix scoop.

What's the consensus on the Autoconexion vented hood? Mine has been sitting here since early '08, and I still haven't used.

Otoh- box in that vented cowl area (isolated from the engine bay) and you've got a cold air intake source.
