Default So my friend just gave me his Mazdaspeed's muffler

Just wondering what I can expect and to get a general feel/comments on the muffler.

He has a 2004 mazdaspeed miata and he replaced the exhaust(along with a few other things too)

today he tells me "guess what?" and hands me the mazdaspeed muffler. He told me it should bolt right onto my 2003 Shinsen(basically an 03 SE)

Will it bolt right up? Will it sound good? Will i gain performance by combining this muffler, which i assume is higher flow, with my intake system? As of now my car is bone stock minus an intake, and a mild alignment for the wheels. A turbo is still on the to-do list.

read this post as(in order):

It won't sound much different, sorry to disappoint. Slightly louder. Not much performance gains I wouldn't think.

Get a real exhaust. All you're doing is going from a stock part to a stock part.

On the plus side, it has that cool tip.

It wont net you anything and will probably be a lot noisier. But it will only be noisier if mazda in fact uses a turbo style muffler on that car and not the same muffler as the non turbo rendition of the car.

I recommend ebay and put the money towards your incoming turboe.

It's only 2 bolts and a couple hangers, might as well give it a try and see if you like it.

I got it for free. It was a gift.

I bolted it up today. Sounds real nice.. its still a pretty quiet muffler, but it's not dead-silent like the stock muffler. I love the sound.. its beautiful!

the tip looks perfect on my Shinsen, it goes very well with my chrome mazda wheels and the titanium-grey paint.

I couldn't be happier.

That was something I couldn't stand about my MSM. Dead silence under WOT... Same with the MS6.

Buy an Enthuza. My friend's Enthuza-equipped 99 miata is responsible for my hearing loss.
Think i'm kidding around? Try it.

I did.

3" Turbo Racer catback on the 95 Miata (yeah, and its STILL N/A...) and the MS6 has a 3" catback without muffler.

Don't expect an HP increase. It does sound decent if you don't like a really loud exhaust. But for free, plus you like it, hard to beat that.
