I am not sure what to do here. I got an aftermarket oil pressure gauge with a sender. I want to keep the stock gauge operational and would like to add the aftermarket one. So my problem right now is that i dont know where to plug in the sender that came with the aftermarket gauge. i searched and found that some people tapped their drain plugs and screwed in the sender units right into the drain plug. I got a sandwich plate but when i put it in i realized that the filter will not fit on the sandwich plate because the Intake torque bar is in the way.

What to do? What other options do i have? Should i look into oil relocation kits? I really dont want to spend a fortune on this gauge project.

well i found it its 1/8bsp. Can someone please direct me to the right place where i can find a splitter that plugs into 1/8bsp and splits into one 1/8bsp and 1/8 ntp.

You can't tap your drain plug for a pressure gauge. You can do that for a temp gauge. You need to put the gauge in a oil line somewhere. Tee the existing fiting and put both there. Use a sandwich plate with a tap for an OPG are 2 choices.

yeah i realize that. Sandwich plate does not fit with the filter. I want to tee the existing oil pressure hole but its different size. Stock is 1/8 bsp and the aftermarket gauge sender i have is 1/8npt so i need an adaptor that would go from male bsp to one female bsp and one female npt.

Flyin' Miata sells a tee designed to screw into the BSP fitting on the block and accommodate the stock sender plus one 1/8" NPT fitting. They use it as an oil supply for the 1.8 engines.

If I may be so bold, why on earth do you need two oil pressure gauges?

I am paranoid about my oil pressure. Just the other day my oil pressure was at 60psi. Just set there when i was cruising. At idle it was over 30. After i wiggled the sender wire and beat on the car pretty hard doing some tuning on e85 it went back to normal. 15-20 idle and 45-50 cruising. I just want to put a nice aftermarket gauge and trust it. But i want to still keep the stock gauge operational, you know for esthetic reasons.

I dunno, call 'em and ask.

They're not the only supplier of this fitting, as it's a somewhat common problem on Jap cars (Honda uses it, too). I just can't remember who else carries it right now. (Bell probably does.)

Also, depending on what filters you prefer, I use a K&N oil filter with my GReddy sandwich plate and still have the intake manifold brace in place. It fits just fine, well at least on my 1.8L, don't know if you'd have any issues on a 1.6L.

I think there's been issues with stuff cracking without the underbrace.... I thought that was one of the issues with some of the "low-volume" intakes that were out there.....

i called the FM and they do have a tee that will work. Its a brass fitting that is NPT but you can jam in the BPT into it and it will work fine.
