I'm going with the 3X red and smooth lock. I'll order in the next few days.

Per Igor's suggestion I just ordered the 2X red and smooth lock. The numbers posted earlier are for 1.6L clutches. The 2X with smooth lock is good to about 300 ft*lbs, which is more than enough... For now.

I ended up getting the 2x and the organic disc with 3 HD/ 3 Regular springs as mentioned in the other clutchnet thread. He originally suggested Kevlar but I declined.

Is it still worth upgrading from the 1.6 setup to the 1.8? I need a new clutch and I would rather just buy a replacement than have to search for a flywheel too.

I think I have the same desires as everyone else. I want minimum pedal effort with maximum modulatibility and the least amount of strain on the driveline.

If the 2x and an organic disc w/upgraded springs will hold 270ftlbs (240wtq), that's about that's about 30wtq more than I'll be making. I just don't like that close a margin of error.

I really want something rated in the 270wtq range... so around 300ftlbs. It looks like I'm gonna have so sacrifice some pedal effort and get the 3xPP and organic disc. I'll keep the feel and driveline longevity.

On the other hand, what about a 2xPP and 6puck-sprung? Lower effort and feel at the expense of quick engagement? I bet that would still hold 300ftlbs.

Anybody else in my same boat?

he tell you 270 for 1.6 size? Cause I was told 300 for the 1.8 setup without the upgraded springs... which makes me curious.

Hey guys, sorry shouldve been more clear...

He told me 270tq at the wheels...thats for a 1.8

Sam, Im in exactly the same boat, im thinking 220-230wtq will be max that ill hit...prob more likely 200ish, so 270 at the wheels was a nice cushion for me..

I'll be calling tomorrow and will probably get the red 2x with organic, sprung disc for my 1.8. If it can hold 270 at the wheels that will keep me happy for a few months.

I was told 300wtq, possibly more with the organic bonded disc 3hd/3reg spring and 2x pressure plate.

I was joking. Although, my other car has 550 rwtq so the Miata will need some work to catch up.

I placed an order this morning for the same red2x/organic sprung disc that other people have bought.

That's my problem... it's for a 1.8. I need 270wtq on a 1.6. My current flywheel still has all the machine marks on it, so in a few months at low boost, I still won't need it machined. The other option is to get a used 1.8 flywheel... really cheap and plentiful... have it machined for $30 and do what you're doing. But money is money.

I'm really on the fence here between a 3xPP+Organic, and a 2xPP+6sprung. The puck clutch is a touch choice on a 150k mile tranny and stock open 6"dif. I really need to drive a pucked clutch and see what one feels like.

I hear ya man...anyway, just to clarify again for a 1.8L organic sprung hub disk, with 3High perf springs/6Reg springs, bonded clutch and a 2X Pressure Plate = 300+ft lb tq, 270+wheel ftlb tq (maybe more depending on abuse) is what I was told...Not saying if its the right answer, just saying...

Anyrate if its either of the 2, im happy. Dont think Im gonna be breaking 220wtq w/ a gt2560 and be streetable at least.

anyone know how long this group buy is going to last? I'm looking at an organic (3High perf springs/3Reg springs....maybe 6Reg springs) with a Red 2X on a 1.8. Am I still looking at $355 for a bonded version? Any one know?

Tony

For what it's worth, I spoke to Igor and specifically asked him if clutchnet sells their stuff to any ebay vendors and he told me that they sell some clutch disks but they do not sell pressure plates to any ebay vendors.

I've got an m62 setup and I ordered the yellow pressure plate with an organic disk from clutchnet for $275, it's sitting on my bench right now and looks really high quality. I like how the springs in the hub of the disk are nicely shrouded, and the pressure plate looks stout. They shipped it out quick and they know a lot about miatas.
