Default Wheel for iRacing?

So iRacing is half off for the holidays so I figured I'd try it out.

What wheels do you guys like? I was reading different reviews and it doesn't seem like the $200 Logitech is much better than the $30 no name on Amazon.

G25 or G27. I hate my normal logitech momo the 270* lock to lock makes it really hard to drive anything thats even remotely twitchy (aka pretty much any car in the game setup to go fast). And if you counter steer too quickly it forgets where center is until you go lock to lock again.

I HATED the trustmaster setup I drove on. The brake had like no linearity, and the force feedback was delayed. When I finally kill my momo wheels it'll be getting replaced with a g27 unless something better comes out in that price range.

My Fanatec CSR is magnificent. I wouldn't have spent the money on it if there was another decent option for the Xbox, but in hindsight it was totally worth it.

I've only heard good things about Fanatec, but OMG $$$$$$$$$$

Welcome to Fanatec. Advanced German Gameware

For serious, drop $600+ and you'll have a seriously BA wheel, pedal, shifter set-up

I have a G27 and honestly it really isn't that good. OK for the money but after you use a wheel like the Fanatec it feels horribly lacking...

It looks like you dont need to drop **** loads of money if you can live without a shifter and can live with what looks like a terrible feeling wheel. As a plus it works with X-box.

I use a G27. I have done the Nixim pedal mod, which changes the springs inside the pedals and also the leobodnar standalone cable for the pedals.

I use a G27.

But no matter what you spend your money on, don't waste your time playing that garbage game.

The only thing bad about iRacing is that, unless you run a triple monitor setup, it doesnt train you to look ahead. And some of the tire models have acted a little funny when trying to catch slides. And I think every car is coated with flubber, since even the slightest caress or bump draft sends you flying.

Project CARS – WMD Portal

I was going to make a big ol thread about that, but figured no one was in to simulation.

It's still in development, but if you buy into the game you get certain perks, and access to the beta's. ect. Click the link and read for yourself.

This game is by far the best i've played and like i said, it's still in development. Somethings suck like the AI, but everything is being worked on. The more people that buy into it, the more money they have and the quicker they can get done. Plus the better game it will be once it's done. You should have seen it a year ago from now, it was pretty rough.

Edit some pictures in to better help convince you.

Just a couple i ripped from the gallery. But you get the idea.

There's also Live for Speed, as a pretty good simulation. And theres rFactor, but I've only heard about it from people who discovered iRacing and stopped playing rFactor.

The point is if you want a very very nice wheel that makes whatever simulator feel 10x more realistic, then unfortunately you do have to drop ****-loads of money...
