I have tried this one and the problem is it doesn't really taste like a hefeweizen. No tart crispness, no hint of clove or banana, and very little wheaty flavor.
I have been searching for y8s suggestion "Dom De Dieu" but have not yet encountered it locally.
I'm still working on finishing a case of Spaten "Oktoberfest Ur-Marzen" and a case of Blue Moon's "Honey Moon Summer Ale" that I got from the freight sale at the class six store on base - $6.99 a case! They discount them drastically when they get close to expiration of the freshness date.

blanche de bruxelles (my favorite)
wittekerke (in cans!)
blue moon (duh)
allagash white (best american belgian white)
NOT shock top budweiser bullshit.
Incidentally I was just at Brasserie Beck here in DC and they had some fabulous blanche on tap but I forget what it was.

Beer of the night: Schwaben Brau Meister Pils $15 @ the class 6 for a 20 case of .5L bottles, pretty damn good for the price, especially considering that's with the deposit for the bottles.
EDIT: One of the better "cheap, everyday" hefe's I've found over here, pretty good IMO. Franziskaner Weisbier, their Dunkel Weisen (dark wheat beer) is phenominal.

Have you tried Aventinus made by Schneider and Sohns from Munich? It was discussed earlier in this thread. It is a doppelbock weizen and is complex and delicious.
Y8s, Blue Moon and Wittekerke are known to me and are commonly available on tap around here and are good. I've seen the Blanche de Bruxelles but have not yet tried it. The place that has it usually has Paulaner or Franziskaner and occasionally Aventinus on tap, so it is tough to pull myself away from those. But next time...

My eyes will be open for it, I usually just grab a case of the first thing I see in the class six that's new to me..and when I'm out traveling around, I usually just go into a bar and tell them to give me something unique to the area, experienced A LOT of good beers that I couldn't tell you the name of if I tried this way.

I need to try some of that Franzinskaner. That sounds tasty. I recognize the label so I have seen it around.
I know I sound like a broken record, but Aventinus on tap FTMFW! I need to call the Flying Saucer and see if they have it on tap right now. It is pretty good in a bottle but muuuuch better on tap.
Tonight's selection is the Hoptober from New Belgium. It is the remaining beer in the sampler pack I bought. From the title and the fact that it is an ale I figured it would be a hoppy IPA style brew. I am not into IPAs at all. Well, it is indeed pretty damn hoppy but I am going to finish it anyway. You IPA fans are welcome to drop by and drink the rest of what I have in the fridge. I will be switching back to the 1554 for the next beer.

Here's what I'm drinking at the moment. Victory Moonglow.
It's an unfiltered weizenbock. It's got plenty of yeasty spiciness and a fruity phenolic aroma that's almost like a Belgian. Lots of sweet malty goodness, quite bready, and a bit warming on the finish with 8.7% ABV. This isn't as dark or chocolaty as Aventinus, but it's a very good example of the style.
It's an unfiltered weizenbock. It's got plenty of yeasty spiciness and a fruity phenolic aroma that's almost like a Belgian. tonite: starr hill amber on draft. deliciously drinkable. especially at a movie theatre watching "the hangover".

I found one of these and drank it today while firing off the potato cannon. It is indeed pretty tasty. Apparently I got a reasonably fresh bottle because it was not skunky at all.
I could not find the Franziskaner Dunkel Weisen.

My German beer supplier here in Baumholder hooked me up with a few of these specials seasonal Kirner Schinderhannes Bocks tonight, definitely worth trying if you can find it stateside.

Made a special Christmas Eve trip to "The Bottle Shop" in Idar-Oberstein Germany today. Had over 280 different bottled beers, guy that was working was awesome, cracked open several beers for me to try right there on the spot. I ended up walking out with 11 new beers and 2 new glasses.
This one is only brewed on nights of a full-moon (Vollmond means full moon in German apparently) and isn't bad at all, not sure what style I would classify it as, it's different to say the least.
Also finally found some Aventinus, still got my eyes open for the Aventinus Eisbock though.
