Yes. Oh, Yes.
Minus the wing, that thing is SEXY.
Thats a Honda 1000RR motor thats been worked over with a rather large turbocharger. No RWD conversion on that one, because the Euro Escort was already a RWD car. Ie, COSWORTH...
ANY suspension part for a Protege will bolt right onto the USDM Escort because they're based off the same chassis... Theres more potential there than most people really think. It would be an ULTIMATE sleeper...

Something you have to take into account.. Its about a 2000 pound car with a 1 liter motorcycle engine in it. N/A that motor might make 150hp, but like 80 foot pounds of torque.. I have no knowledge of actual power numbers on the car, but what I've seen out of turbocharging a 14000rpm engine, torque isn't exactly increased to the same levels of horsepower. Also consider the nearly 200mph bike that engine came on weighs under 400 pounds wet.
Granted, the car doesn't look that fast.. but neither did my friends vette that clicked off 10s in the 1/4.
Back to topic of BPs hard at work... Found a video of that escort on accident:
STPmotorsport of South Florida 9second RWD Escort GT(P Performance Video)
Supposedly running a 9 second pass, which it seems to be about that quick, but they cut it off before you see the clock. Still god damn impressive!!

Only 1st and 2nd generation Escorts in Europe were RWD, but pretty much most car in those years ('60-ies and '70-ies) were RWD (Corollas, Kadetts, etc.)
From 3rd generation (around 1980) Ford switched the Escorts in Europe to FWD (following the global trend) and that's how they were until the end (6th generation), then around '00 the next generation was renamed and we know it nowadays as Ford Focus (also FWD)
In the video above all these cars were Ford Escort RS Cosworth (5th generation). These were not RWD. These were AWD and had turbocharged Cosworth YBT 2.0L engines. It was the homologated world rally car, that's why only about 7000 were made. RS stands for Rally Sport.
The Escort RS Cosworth was based on the chassis/platform of the Ford Sierra Cosworth, that Ford Sierra car which was known as Merkur XR4Ti in USA
Here is one nice example of those Escort Cosworths, tuned to 570hp:

besides the few homologated rally cars all the Escorts in Europe from '80 to nowadays (renamed to Focus) were/are FWD

His name is Jeremy Clarkson. Go to youtube and type "top gear" and you'll find 50 million videos of him on his show, driving cars you could only dream of. Hes the man and I'd kill for his job.
