GF Backed into Miata - What do?
I parked behind my girlfriend last night in her driveway, so this morning when she gets up to go to work at 9, she walks past my car, gets in her car, puts her car in reverse, and proceeds to BACK THE **** INTO MY CAR! She gets out and doesn't know what to say. She apologizes like crazy, and I know she didn't do it on purpose, but seriously? There was room for her to go around the car, but she clearly didn't even try (I was watching from the window, I expected her to go around). In the 7 seconds it took her to get into her car, she completely forgot mine was there, and she didn't look before backing up.
So anyway, the damage is pretty minor, but something poked a hole in my rear bumper cover (looks like whatever is behind the cover poked through), and the hole around the trunk key has turned inside out and the paint is chipped all around it. There are also some pretty good scuffs. I keep my car pretty nice, so I don't like having holes in it.
What would you guys do to fix it? I don't really feel like paying to have it fixed myself, I can't imagine it's really worth involving insurance, and my girlfriend is still in college so it would be pretty hard for her to afford to fix it. FWIW, she isn't very good at driving in general, and I've been trying to get her to learn how to drive better since we met, but she seems to have no interest. This just proves my point, so maybe I can get her to learn now.

Kick her out / Dump her.
You aren't going to get her to learn to drive any better, she simply doesn't care / she thinks she drives good enough. If you really want her to drive better, take away her cell phone, remove the car stereo, remove the vanity mirror, make sure she never has any makeup stuff in her purse, make her keep her purse in the trunk when she's driving...

I'm not dumping her, since lack of driving skill is her biggest fault. I'll discuss with her after she gets home from work what to do about the bumper.
She's not a distracted driver at all, actually, she just had poor instruction. Her parents aren't confident drivers (especially her mom), and her driving school only really taught them about the speed limit and other boring driving rules.

bring your gf to autox / the track. My gf has become such a better driver on the street since she started racing with me.
And if she has no interest in doing that. . . dump her. Then post revenge nudes.

This.
It's like the joke about how there are only two kinds of bikers- those who have gone down, and those who will.
It's a car. It's going to get bumped and dinged again. Do as I do and simply fail to care.
But use it as a lever for kinky sex. Ask if she'll let you be on top for a change, perhaps?

My mom did a similar thing when I was in some training in AZ. My parents were watching my Miata and she backed into it with her van (early '00s Astro). Never saw a photo of the damage, but they paid to have it fixed and painted and it looked better when I next saw it than it did when I left it for basic training.
That's no help, I know.
It sounds like you're in it for a finish panel and a bumper cover at least. You can $ave a lot by doing the parts sourcing yourself. Be wary of ebay finish panels as most are fiberglass.

In the end, its just a Miata.
