Default Vegas and back

Wife and I decided to head to Vegas. Was a long trip with no A/C, 460 miles one way for us. The Miata did just fine in the 100*+ heat for 5 hours of the trip. Got to play with an Audi TT, that was quite surprised that I was hanging with him. Also averaged 32 MPG which I was quite surprised.

The downer on the whole trip was the trip back. Just about 20 miles into CA past Primm I get pulled over by the CHP. I knew I wasn't speeding traffic wouldn't permit it. Cop then tells me it is due to lack of a front license plate. First thought was WTF, 20 years of driving with no front plate and I get popped. He noticed the Miataturbo.net sticker, and the A pillar boost gage.

Him: so it's turbo charged?
Me: yeah Bell kit
Him: mind if I check it out?
Me: (sweating, seriously it was 105*)umm ok (pop hood)
Him: Nice kit, I see it has an EO plate and all, was always a fan of Miatas.
Me: .......
Him: Ok sign here, get your plate installed and have it signed off, it is just a fix it ticket no points.
Me: alright
Him: And by the way you might want to hook up your BoV by time you get it smogged.

Well at least he didn't write me up for VTA on the BoV, and he didn't bother to check my cat converter either. I talked to my CHP buddy here in town, he agreed to sign me off when the ticket shows up.

A police officer actually knew/had interest in your car? That's freakin badass.

I kept thinking a few years ago that I was getting pulled over so often surely one of those times an officer would recognize me and maybe laugh and give me a warning. No such luck, just a new jerkoff every time.

Wow, that is some luck right there.

I had my hood opened once, carb sticker and all, if the officer didn't get a more important call i would have had a few tickets as well.

Though it sucks getting popped by the cops, 'tis always better to at least find one that is automotively aware...
