Given recent topics, this seemed rather timely:
"McGee’s performance was all the more noteworthy given that, although he has logged thousands of racing miles on iRacing’s online motorsports simulation service, the races at Laguna Seca were his first as a professional race driver."

If you remember my venting from two weeks ago about my male boss being transferred and getting a female replacement........so i now have three female bosses.
I would like to add a dash of transphobia to my sexist comments. Turns out my direct boss is actually a dude.

The whole "woman complains into a webcam about something trivial and uninteresting" genre is getting old.
And for Steve, this is "Dana," at the WXIN Halloween thingy.
Dana, previously known as Rick, is the lead developer at Hankware, which makes the video recording & playback system that most Tribune TV stations use. Dana, rather interestingly, is still married to the heterosexual and cisgendered woman who originally married Rick. I have no idea how that works, nor do I want to.

My millennial coworker has been sitting here listening to Kanye West's new album through his iPhones built in speaker. He assures me that the quality is fine and there is nothing to be gained from real speakers/headphones.

I have been using some shitty *** skull candy ear buds since Christmas because I got them as a gift. I could never get them to actually stay in my ears and quality was horrible. I finally broke down and bought some Sennheiser 429's and OMG they are so much better.
Now justify some cash for a pair in the $100 dollar range and a headphone amp.
Mind blown.

I probably won't ever justify spending that much on headphones, even though I know it would be a large improvement. I listen to 90% punk rock, with a lot of it being live recordings of shows. So the actual music quality is not there to justify spending that much more on headphones.

$80 is all you need to spend.

I can't speak for the new ones, but the old ones are amazing. They've survived at least 100 airplane trips and years of abuse at as many radio stations. The "skin" is completely worn off of the ear pads, but other than that they're in perfect shape. No cracks, the cord still has the original plug on it, and the hinges are all like new. They sound great and are extremely comfortable for long-term wear.
Also, I just realized something. Beartato's name is supposed to be pronounced such that it rhymes with potato, because his body resembles one. I've been doing it wrong all these years...

Yes. About an hour ago, while walking along the bank of the East River in Manhattan directly below the cableway of the Roosevelt Island Tram, while listening to the audiobook of Life, the Universe, and Everything as read by the author.
Well, I pronounce the word potato as po-tay-toh. And yet I'd been pronouncing Beartato as bear-taught-oh.
The gravity of this, and the context of its revelation, gives me pause to question certain fundamental assumptions which I've always presupposed about the universe.
This must be how Reginald feels quite a lot of the time.
