Not much really happening to the car lately; I do some specialty fabrication for a friend's restaurant chain and the deadline for the latest thing I'm working on now has been moved up a bit, so I'm thrashing. (I'm converting a '53 American LaFrance open-cab "bullnose" firetruck to a seating and play area; it's the focal point of the decor as you can imagine and it's installation is tightly scheduled around opening up a wall of the building for access. It's not a date I can massage much... It is, however, coming out dope; just finished putting a nearly 9" slam on it, and in the process have proven that ANY vehicle looks better lowered...)
Because of that date moving up there's no way that the ShitHammer could ever be ready for this year's event. I may cruise up for the festivities though; Gainesville is only 45 minutes away. 30 in the Lotus.
I have been accumulating parts for it though; I scored a nice 8.8 straight axle rear with a locker cheap (IRS sucks at the drag strip, and we're hoping to score there big time; it's easier to shine there than the AutoX) and found a fuel pump on my buddy's shelf that I shamed him into giving me. Other than that it's stalled. Oh yeah, we did graft an old Vette hood scoop on it and made some pretty spiffy air extraction vents using the louvers that used to be the rear section of the back quarter windows. The rear is about an inch wider and I'll have to use adapters to make the Rial's fit (making it even wider), so I may flare the car too.. I've been eyeing some really cheap trailer fenders that could be trimmed down and made into a poor man's 70's-style wide body.
Still looking for a cheap wastegate actuator for the VGT function, and a big external wastegate and BOV. Any ideas?

Slammage, nearly 9" worth. Gutted the tanks and hose bay, gutted the enormous pump, engine and trans. (V12 American LaFrance powered hot rod perhaps??? Hmmm.). Then we framed it out and laid in a subfloor.
The back will be a huge "party booth", the front half is for the kids. I split the bulkhead at the rear of the cockpit and split the seat so that it's all part of the jumpseat/former engine bay area. The cockpit doors are sealed shut to prevent anybody from tumbling out and is now accessed via the side jumpseat step. The jumpseat a will remain and there will be a flat screen with video games mounted to the bulkhead between the play area and booth. I'm dummying the pump/valve control board with flashy lights and stuff, and doing the same in the cockpit. My 3 year old is blown away by it, so confidence is high that it'll be a hit with the kiddies..

One of the nicest parts about this client is he's a friend and knows how I work, and pretty much leaves me alone to do what I want. On the schoolbus he just said "I want a hippy bus", and left me to work out how to make it work and function in a restaurant. (With the bus that meant making a canopy out of the roof with bus end caps..)
Sometimes he'll call and say "I need a cool shelf to display premium beers on" and let's me surprise him with something, like this one-

I've been there as a spectator a few times and have often wondered how some of these guys pull it off. I mean, even if you get stuff for free you have to assign a fair price to it. One cat told me in great detail how their 4 cam toyota/lexus V8 could be bought "all day, every day, in any junkyard, for $250. Ninja *please*. $250 wouldn't buy the alternator.
