I was looking for my black flip-flops today, and I couldn't find them. I was getting frustrated that I might have to wear my brown flip-flops, which meant I was going to have to act like a bitch and change a lot of other stuff (black watch, black belt, maybe white shorts...)
Anyways, while I was looking, and starting to get frustrated, I remembered something from this thread that made me chuckle...
I want my goddamn pinwheels! I want my goddamn pinwheels! I want my goddamn pinwheels! I want my goddamn pinwheels! I want my goddamn pinwheels! I want my goddamn pinwheels! I want my goddamn pinwheels!

From the initial onset of the over-rev, it really sounds an accidental downshit. I mean, that motor pegged really quickly. I realize that they don't have flywheels as such and are quite snappy, but that sounded like an instantaneous redline. Anybody with a Miata and sloppy engine mounts knows what an inadvertent 3-2 shift sounds like.
And to Bond's point, if it was a false neutral, isn't that what the rev limiter is for?
Seems suspicious.
EDIT: Almost forgot this was the pictures thread:
