Sav, you did everything right, congrats. Pull over, as far off the road as you can. If on the freeway, try and give him enough room to walk up on the passenger side if he wants. Keys on the dash, windows down, hands on the wheel. Make eye contact as soon as he walks up. Be polite, use the word "Sir" or "Ma'am" as appropriate. Don't try any bullshit.
A cop will decide in about 5 seconds whether or not he's gonna give you a ticket. The next 10-15 seconds are just him figuring out if you're drunk. If you make it to 20seconds without pissing him off, you'll probably just get a warning.
By the way, if you were on the phone when he saw you doing whatever it was he pulled you over for, it's almost a certainty that you're getting a ticket (even if it's legal in your state). Do yourself a favor, HANG UP immediately when you see the lights. Don't even bother to say BYE, just hang the **** up. He'll appreciate it.
Also, if your phone rings at any point during the stop (even if he's back in his car running your license) and you answer it... you'll sure as **** get a ticket. DON'T ANSWER IT!

I'm always cooperative and courteous when I get pulled over, and 3/7 times it has worked. I've never gotten a speeding ticket, only reckless endangerment, illegal lights, and disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle.
My dad (63 then) and I (18 then) were test riding two brand new unregistered BMW motorcycles a couple years ago when a sheriff clocked us at 110 (I was on one wheel for a good part of the way up there) and locked onto us at 87 in a 55 zone on a country road. We got off with a verbal warning because we were cooperative with mostly clean records and I think he didn't want to go through all the paperwork that would be associated with legal action.

Low-digit speeding, no blinker, rolling a stopsign... that's the kind of stuff you can often get out of if you just play it cool.
I was an EMT and City Lifeguard growing up in San Diego. I went on quite a few Police ride-alongs when I was going down the path of civil service in HighSchool and College. I had actually settled on Border Patrol when the Navy came along. It's an awesome experience to do a shift in a black&white. Most police departments have a ride-along program that just about anybody can participate in. There's a basic background check, but a lot of agencies treat it as a citizens' right to see what the other side goes through. If you know a cop, I'm sure they can hook you up with the info. I learned some of my greatest life lessons on those days. Try to get a Friday or Saturday night... time very well spent.

**** Son...
I've been pulled over a lot.. lol.. Never once have I ever copped an attitude to the cop before they made contact.. If he comes rolling up on me with his own head up his ***...
Cops are people, and 90% of them I've met have over inflated egos and are complete and total douches. Never have I not been polite or disrespectful to an officer that pulled me over and I've been harassed and fucked up one side and down the other.
Only time I ever got off personally with something.. I went to Lawrence which is a college town (KU..) to hang out with this girl I was dating. Well I had to be in the office at 8am the following morning and next thing I know its 3:30... Was driving my Speed6 home with the cruise set at like 120mph nearly half way back to Kansas City. About the time I reached this little town DeSoto I decided it was a VERY bad idea to be going that fast with deer and everything, so I backed off to around 95 to continue the rest of the way. Right as I left DeSoto City limits on K10 my radar detector goes "Bleep." one time on Ka band, which it does ALL the freaking time (piece of crap...) so I ignored it. About the time I got to Olathe I noticed in my mirror there was a car way back behind me and it was coming FAST... Just head lights, nothing flashing. Got right on my bumper and light me up!! ****!!!!
Pulled over to the side of the road, rolled my window down and got out the lube!! It was a Johnson County Deputy Sheriff that walked up to my car. Said good evening, identified himself, stated he clocked me doing 90 in a 65 and asked to see my license. I sighed, said oh **** I didn't realize I was going that fast (lies!!) and explained to him in great detail why I was speeding home.. You know, it was like 90 minutes until I had to be at work nearly! He grabbed my license and I couldn't find a current insurance card even! Great, theres another 500$ to my lawyer to get that speeding ticket fixed, plus I'll have to go show the judge my proof of insurance to get no insurance charge dismissed.. He returned to my car after FOREVER, prolly like 7 minutes with my license and nothing else in hand, inquired if I managed to find a current card for insurance. I hadn't been able to produce one, the one I had was 9 days expired. Told the officer I have 3 cars and a bike, all have full coverage insurance and even showed him the rest of my expired (LOL) cards.. He Handed me my license, told me to please slow down and make sure I get a valid insurance card in my vehicle and have a safe trip home.
Talk about shock! I'd send him a Christmas card if I could!

Wow this is weird just last night me and my roommate were driving around town, in his modded GTP with nitrous... and pulled up to some riced out civic and he chirped the tires, then took off so my roommate just walks past him. And sure enough there was a cop, watching all of it lol. he walks up to the car and says what the **** do you think your doing, and were real nice about it and say just having some fun. Its like 1 a.m and no one else on the road, so their "backup" shows up about 6 cop cars and 12 cops or so make us get out, and proceed to search the car. They didn't like the nitrous to much... and proceeded to say you need a hazardous material sticker displayed on the outside of your car at all times haha. After realizing we werent drinking or criminals proceed to ask how much power and how fast the car was? And then tell us about how fast their cop cars are (gay). But he only ended up getting a city ordinance ticket for something like $50 for street racing not to bad. There are some nice cops and ********* everywhere you go

If I ever got a ticket for a SNELL approved safety device because it doesn't have a "DOT" sticker on it, I'd fight it to the bitter end personally.

I've been pulled over 3 times wearing them now and never once been given **** about them. 3" Willans, FIA rated, and if I ever catch **** I'll just explain to the judge that if they are good enough for Formula 1 cars, they're good enough for me.

Happens. My friend got a no seatbelt ticket for wearing a Sparco Harness with harness bar. His dad is ex-police so it just disappeared, but it was like "Seriously"?
He got 4 tickets in one sitting, speeding, no proof of insurance, no seat belt, and improper silencer.
Awesome!
