Best thing about South Africa!
Just got back from a couple week vacation in South Africa. Did the Safari thing which is obviously great. Spent some time along the coast outside capetown. Rented a car for most of the time. Everything is RHD there. Wasn't that hard of a transition even with all the cars being manual tranny.
Best thing about South Africa? Driving! On a two lane road a slower driver will move toward the shoulder to allow you to pass! Cars, trucks, even cops! Traffic coming toward you moves over too! Unbelievable. It wasn't unusual to come up to a semi, have him move to the shoulder and have a semi coming towards us move over too. After you pass you hit the hazards and let them flash a couple times as a thankyou. It's amazing and it worked great. Even on twisty roads it was rare to get stuck behind someone for long. How the hell do we implement that kind of courtesy and thoughtfulness here?!?
Roads were in great condition too. (Should that be "tarmac was in good nick?") Lots of twisty mountain and coast roads. Just wish I had the Miata instead of the rental econobox loaded down with luggage and people.

In Texas I'm always surprised by the trucks that move into the shoulder to let you pass. Honestly I can wait for an opening... but they move over and let me pass in my lane. But then you get the Dbag in their SUV that will speed up as you try and pass. IDK it's hit or miss these days.
