Hawaii, dude.

Those are some of the best observatories in the world. The Twin 10meter Keck Observatory, Subaru Telescope, and what looks like Caltech's submilimeter Observatory.

I was like, "I think this is Hawaii...then I saw the snow and was like, does elevation make that much difference as compared to equator closeness?

Why all the trucks loaded up w/ snow?
No ski lift? Everyone hiking to the top then boarding down? Got to want it when hiking at 14k!

I hate hiking for runs.

But in Hawaii I might make an exception just for the novelty.

Pretty sweet drive. Wished I had a Miata to drive when I was visiting there, great roads everywhere. I did the tourist thing and rode a bike the whole way down from the top, that was awesome. It wasn't such a clear day as you had though. Those snowboarders are dedicated, they probably hitchhike up the mountain if they can.

People truck the snow down to town and home where you will then see random snowmen on peoples yard when it's like 80 degrees out LOL! I guess families play with it and eat.

The snowboarders came in groups so looks like most were trucking each other up and down between runs.

Snowboard and Surfboard in the same day! That's worth hiking.

I love the Big Island.

I drove that road in a Jeep. Can't imagine doing it in a Miata. Washboard.

Great pics. Keep em' coming. We're freezing to death over here (yes, even in TX).

Awesome. Yeah, those guys are definitely shuttling to the top with a truck or something. Looks like a BLAST.

So why do people fill up their trucks with snow to drive back down? Only snowmen?

Snowmen don't count unless your nuts are freezing to your thigh in a -18F weather while u're making that ****.
