Hi I'm riprodder and I've been a member for a little while but haven’t posted anything yet so I thought I'd start out here. I've owned a Miata for 4yrs now and am on my second one. It's a crystal white 93 Miata with a 1.6L engine. I started researching some turbo info here when I picked up a partial used turbo kit for $400 this spring. It came with my 14b an ebay manifold, downpipe and a FM voodoo fuel controller. I had to learn quite a bit about forced induction to complete the rest of my kit and tune it, but long story short I now have a slightly boosted turbo Miata.,

I have also done some suspension work which includes Stance GR+ coilovers and energy suspension bushings. I also have a pair of Jackson racing sway bars but haven’t put them on yet because I want to get a set of adjustable end links too. The ones from Miatacage.com look good.,

But enough ramblings from me what do you guys think?

I put a few pics in my album. As far a boost it's not much, just 10psi. but it's way better than nothing. I've been wanting to up the power but my tiny RX-7 intercooler can't handle much more

It's a top mount from a turbo II. I have a larger one but haven't put it on yet.

Ignition timing is 8deg btdc I had it set to 6 before I added the coolingmist water meth injection. With my larger intercooler and the cooler fall temps. I hope to get my timing at least to 10 and maybe add a couple psi. I'll just have to see what I can get out of it.

Welcome.

You have to subscribe to get an avatar...or achieve such infamy that the mods give you a free ------y av.

Sounds like a good build for running on bandaids. I'm about to add WI myself and go from 10psi to 12 or so.

Boost is addictive.

Do you have a wideband O2 sensor? Have you considered using detcans before you push the timing anymore?

I have an LC-1. You're right boost is addictive. But I don't know what a "detcan" is. I would like to get to 12deg advance because when it was setup NA that's what it really liked. Then I would have NA response down low with boost up high. I suppose getting my timing back is my next priorty.

Thanks for the welcome. I know the MS is better but with my low hp numbers right now the voodoo works alright. I think I'm about 140 wheel based on my last 1/8mi run 9.933 at 75.08mph but can't really back that up since I never put it on the dyno. I want to make some more power but can't really afford to throw a lot of $$$ at it right now.

They really arent expensive. Look up the DIY section you could either buy one or make your own. Theres a detailed write up on how to built one. They are offten for sale keep an eye on the classified section. If you wanna play you gotta pay besides "boost is addictive" is only a matter of time before your band-aid wont cut it.

All good things come to those who wait. I did see the section on how to build your own. That's some hardcore electrical. I've messed with wiring before but never any circuit boards. I'll just have to save up and by a PNP and when I do I'll check the classifieds. I like simple sometimes. Besides reinventing the wheel always takes so much time.

How much power can the 14b produce?

Be I bet you have more than 140 anyway.

And a 9.3 isn't bad.

Without slicks, it can be a issue getting much better than a 9.0 in the 1/8th. Even though you turn up the boost. Your tires just keep spinning more and more in first and 2nd.

Or atleast that is what I ran into.

I'm sure you would probably notice some in the 1/4 though.

Congrats on boost!

Thanks for the complement white 93 bro. I didn't have that much trouble with wheel spin when I ran the 1/8th. I was running Yokohoma Avid H4S 195/60-R14 tires at the time. Now I have 225/60R16 Yoko S. Drives. I haven't got to run yet with my new tires but I imagine I'll be a little slower with out upping the boost due to the heaver wheels. As far as max power with the 14b I'm not sure. I'm sure someone else has posted some high numbers somewhere even though it is a really small turbo.,

What turbo are you running? How much power?

Right now, I have a T/3 that should of been going weeks ago. I've just been preoccupied, lazy, sick, etc etc. Excuses.....

Unless this proves to be different. My Favorite so far was the FM2560 kit.

It spooled well, and had gobbs of power.

Hopefully I'll like the T3.

The guy said it was a T3/T4. I don't have the specifics of the internals. So it will be a start and SEE if the FORTUNE cookie is GOOD! LOL Lol lol lol lol.

I know one thing for sure. It looks wicked!!!! And the I/C setup is nice. I just need to figure out which color I want for the pipes. I think Blue or red. Mabe silver metalic or a tough coat grey (tool box finish).

Do you have a color scheme going on or is it random? Mine is Black, Red, and White of coarse. Here's a pic of mine.AroundtheLake006.jpg?t=1254781042 Under my hood is still a little random. I plan on going with red accents on the vaccume hoses and boots with a wrinkle red valve cover like the Mazdaspeed one.

Oh you noticed that. Actually I have made a five-lug conversion kit. It has all you need to make your Miata have the five lug hubs and 11" brake rotors. You just have to have a set of 10" brake caliper mounts and modify your dust shields a little.
