Been lurking for a few days since I found the site and decided to lay down some postness. About me:
24 year old Electrical engineering student at Auburn University (been a little rough so far with the brokeness, changing majors, etc ). I've wanted a miata (or fd RX-7 but lets not go there...) for several years now but I haven't had any cash to work with. Now I'm looking at some possible extra money sometime next year and I've decided to go ahead and do some research. I was on AU's Formula SAE team in the '03 and '04 seasons (I'd love to do it again if I get time) and have been fascinated by turbochargers for as long as I've liked cars. I've read Maximum Boost at least 3 times as well as Carroll Smith's "...To Win" series. I have a fairly good (as far as I know) conceptual knowledge of engines/suspensions/brakes/physics/etc but hardly any practical experience. I'm a shameless (for the most part) lover of anything exotic when it comes to parts, although "ricers", "form over function" and "all-show-no-go" type things annoy me to no end. (I ripped out my CRX's interior a few years ago and started making mock-ups of an interior made of carbon fiber before I ran out of cash.) That's one part of me that refuses to grow up... hehe. I guess I could always go to Japan and try to get a job building time attack cars! Aaaanyway, I'm planning to get a 94-95 sometime next year and turn it into something nice. Hopefully I can contribute something to the community here!

/end story of life

EDIT: Thought I might clarify... I'm not one of those "OMG JDM 4LF!! teh carbon fiborz is teh rockzor" kids. I just have a thing for anything that works particularly well or efficiently, even if it's overkill for the application. I try to keep it under control, but it jumps out sometimes.
