Just another boring intro... please feel free to ignore.

Looks like project is going to be on hold for .... a .... while.....
Found out wife has some serious medical problems and those bills are going to be brutal.... I'm going to stick around here a bit and keep up with all the new goodies, but it's looking like I may be a few years out before I can even start now... gonna have to put my Miata up on blocks in the garage and live vicariously through you guys for a while...

Quick question, guys. I'm suddenly finding myself in a financial bind with some upcoming medical bills and need to make some quick cash... without standing on a corner in a banana-hammock...
Question is, some random kid is interested in buying my blown motor, not running, wish I had the time/money to make it into a project car... what is a reasonable selling price for a 2000 base model that doesn't run, but is in decent shape otherwise?

Thanks Ed. That is right around what I was thinking of asking... of course I expect I'll most likely get a little less as I need the money more than I need the hassle of haggling right now.
Bite me, Vlad. Just found out my wife has stage 3 cancer.
I'll pick up a new project Miata when things get a little more stable for me and I'll take it from there. I do however appreciate the insight that you guys gave me earlier in the thread. From that and all the build threads on here I have learned that I might be better off on the next one as I can be a little more selective in my starting platform.

I stand behind what I said, because its true and because it happens on a daily basis here.
However,
Its absolutely terrible to hear about your wife, and I really do hope she beats it and all goes well for her. I lost and aunt and uncle to cancer in 1 year, and in no way shape or form do I take that lightly. What you're doing is absolutely right and a good idea. Family is infinitely more important than cars.
I wish both of you the best, honestly.

Sorry about the medical issues. Hope it turns out well.
Ditch the car though. Having a project sitting around without any work on it terribly frustrating. It'll **** you off more than give you hope. Sell it and focus on the important stuff. In a few years some dumbass will be selling a NB with a blown motor and you can profit then. Thems the breaks.

I understand. I'm sure there are lots of people who get all of these grand designs and plans in their heads only to become overwhelmed and just drop it all together. I have owned two Miatae so far and they have been my DDs for the past 16 years. I absolutely love the thing! I hate to drop it and move on, but for now it is the best thing for me.
I'm sorry to hear about your aunt and uncle... I am quickly getting a new respect for people who have dealt with cancer in their lives. And, I appreciate the well wishes... no hard feelings?
Torque... that's the plan. I'm already feeling the resentment of having to put the project on hold (selfish, I know), but I figure if I get rid of it then it won't be around as a constant reminder and I'll be able to focus on helping her to get through this. Besides, there will always be some idiot that just doesn't realize what a gem in the rough a stock Miata really is. I've seen them around here on occasion go for stupid cheap, just because they get tired of dealing with a check engine light that they can't seem to get rid of...

Thanks, Rick. From the sounds of it, we're looking at a long hard road. But, she is a strong woman and I am sure that we will slide down it sideways together...
On another note, I am truly beginning to love this site. So much knowledge and camaraderie... I know that I am new here, but after reading through so many of the build threads, I just know that there are some good people on here...
I'll get my **** handled and I'll get another Miata... and I'll have the whole build posted up here in all of it's BP Glory!
