Default Lurker reporting in.

Had to register for all the good pictures. I'm a classic saab turbo kind of person, but I'm sick of the lack of replacement parts and aftermarket, along with the glass transmissions. Drove my buddies 260WHP NB two years ago before he got drunk and went into a ditch, nothing has put such a large smile on my face since then. I never realized how impressive these little engines are until I drove his.

So I'm lurking until I can find a decent NA that hasn't been riced to ****. There is so much good information on here. My intentions are to megasquirt it and learn the system (I'm used to Saab's Trionic 5.5 ECU, popular swap for their older cars when people get sick of monkeying around with rising rate FPRs) and when I'm comfortable with that, turbo it with a goal of about 200WHP.

The aftermarket for these cars is everything I'd ever dreamed about having, I can't wait to find one (One that hasn't been beat to **** with a welded diff and wearing all mismatched body panels).

Welcome to the forums, I'm new too obviously.
I moved over from Volvo so I know the pain.
If you insist on an NA at least get a 1.8 or you'll be replacing your drive train before you get started. It's what I'm doing at the moment. The NB will net you a stronger diff and bigger brakes at minimum, the weight is arguably worth it. Also you'll have more room in the engine bay because the pop up headlights take up lots of room in the NA.
Otherwise have fun on your new journey in a tiny car.

I'm insistent on the NA, I love the look of the pop up headlights. That face is too happy. 1.8 is pretty much a requirement for me, trying to find one with a factory torsen.

What Volvo? My mother has a 70s 240 with the quad round headlights that broke a million miles a few years ago, stock engine and transmission. Also has a v70 T5 wagon, pretty quick for a landwhale, but an absolute nightmare if you need to remove the head.

you might find this helpful:

Someone linked it to me and it went right into my bookmarks.

2005 S60 2.5t awd. Nothing crazy, just all of the bolt ons IPD offered and a tune from ARD. I started questioning the trans so I sold it a while back. I spent most of my childhood in the back of an 850 wagon.
