Default Another Lurker in the Wall

Hi everyone! I'm a 22-year old college student in College Station, TX. I have two miatas: a ratty 00SE with 247k on it and an 04 MSM with an (in the machine shop still) built engine and peripherals. I've probably been lurking in this forum and the facebook miata pages for the last couple of years, I've found that one of the best ways to learn is simply by reading everything. I put an FMII voodoo ii turbo kit on my 00SE originally, the car I used as my learning platform, before moving onto the MSM. I've done most of my own work and as much DIY as I can, and still learning on that aspect. The MSM I'm building right now has a huge amount of things done to it that are probably worth another post in themselves.

Pleasure to join y'all and excited to continue learning!

Welcome to the forum. Are you planning on track days or just being a poor college student?

They were on the car when I bought it. I'm going to have Richard Tomlin patch the holes and repaint in early spring.

Haven't updated this in a while, have some seriously noteworthy stuff to share.
Switched setups on my MSM from stock turbo to a kraken efr7163 build. I'm running an 89 RX7 turbo 2 transmission with an act zm2 6-puck ceramic clutch disc, 88 turbo 2 clutch type rear end, DSS 600hp axles with billet hubs and DSS 3" driveshaft now. Engine is fully built vvt: Manley rods, wiseco 8.5:1 pistons, ARP head and main studs, ACL bearings, boundary engineering oil pump, supermiata harmonic damper, ID1300s, sequential LS2 ignition, ethanol, walbro 450 return fuel system, fuelab rising rate fpr, TDR port and polished VVT head, supermiata heavy double springs, +1 OS SS intake and exhaust valves, skunk2 intake and throttle body, fab9 550hp intercooler + a few other things I'll post about later. My tuner thinks he'll be able to crack 600whp, we'll see about that haha.

Pictures!

The rear end arrived today in freight, so I'll have installed pictures tonight for all those interested!

Very nice build.
When I was a 22 y/o college student I couldn't afford those tires, let alone that turbo.

To be fair, I'm 24 now, so I've had some time to save and build.

I think you'll need cams to hit 600whp even with the 7163. I'd suggest something with short to med duration, .420~.450 lift and +1 O/S valves. In any case, cool build and thanks for sharing.

Nice build. 600whp out of the 7163 is a stretch - I've had one on our NB for a couple of ears now. I'll keep an eye on your setup, I'm in the process of the same trans swap - going with the 8.8 ford rear end though.
