Artech is great! Just a heads up though... It's like a 7-9 week wait time to get a set-up made from him. I put an order in on March 13th & I should get mine in a another week or 2. Definitely will be worth it when it's all said and done. The only good thing about his wait time is that he can take 1/2 payment when you order, and the other 1/2 when it's ready to ship.

honestly though, this is the slowest thing off the line (aka trying to go from a stoplight) and it bogs like crazy. engine management my ***, Id rather be running it n/a at this point. Its hard to decide where to spend my money first because the thing looks like ****, runs like ****, and rides like ****.
If I hadn't been wanting one for so long, I'd be flipping it to some jdm fanboy and finishing my z car.

Unless you are going for the old "blow up my 1.6 so I have an excuse to swap a 1.8" trick. In that case, wire your wastegate closed and make sure to get a 1.8 mani from Abe.

Honestly that's what I would do. If you can't find a stock exhaust mani, I would at least wire the wastegate open.

probably Ill just weld up the cracks, order up the 1.8 manifold and call it good for now. I need to finish one of my other 2 projects before I get started on this.

Welcome to the forum. There is an incredible amount of info on this forum. We prefer to hear your clarifying questions about your searches in our threads versus "wat ebay kit makes awezum boosts for $23 ???/?" You are doing pretty good so far.
These guys will test noobs for a while to see if they can keep their cool under flak. Don't snap back and they will know you don't take yourself too seriously and you'll be fine. They dogpile on the butthurt noobs until they lash out and get banned.

So the manifold had 9 different cracks in it including one that didn't even follow the welds so I welded it up pretty well. It might do the job for a couple months until I save up for a 1.8 to start building. that's probably when I start a build thread.
I need to start making a list of stuff to fix, its hard to remember everything.
thanks guys, its been a while since Ive been a newb on a forum. But don't worry... after some hunting, ive found the search button.

In a move contrary to standard accepted practices in the oem world, we typically don't use gaskets between our manifolds and turbos. If the mating surfaces are true, it works fine and doesn't leak. A small amount of bearing grease along the mating face will form a hard carbon seal (a crust) after it cooks out a little bit, and will fill any minor irregularities. I know it sounds funny but it works. Those gaskets burn out regularly otherwise.
