I did a first gear and second gear run to red line (set at 6,900 rpm) and then noted that the car idles at about 2,200 RPMs. Sometimes the idle hangs there for a few seconds, but then it returns to the normal 900. Not this time.

Intake temp was 60
Coolant temp 171
At redline I registered 13 psi

Advance 22-24. I know. The car usually idles with an advance of 15 or so.

I am pretty sure there is a connection, not sure how to troubleshoot, though.

Any ideas?

found the cause, figured i would give you guys an update.

the b6 engine in my car has a port on the back of the air intake manifold (facing the firewall) which is used in the automatic cars for something (not sure for what). When i did those boosted runds, i blew out the cap so I had an air leak straight into the intake manifold. If you don't know about that port, you can only diagnose this with the smoke machine. in my case, I found a mechanic who used to build/race miatas, so he went straight to that port and checked it out.

This could be useful for other people who experience high idle/unstedy idle after a boosted run (obviously other things could be going on as well), but figured I would give an update.
