Its the one on DIY's page I believe it came from someone called Aussie Driver. The car has run fine on it once (before I got all the sensors sorted out).

Ok so I just ran out to my car and test that out. It definitely works better but I suspect that perhaps the idle air control is causing trouble. The engine starts and runs for a second or so (longer than before) but then something happens and it dies. Manifold air pressure goes really low and that causes it to crank down the pulse width. Here is the log.

My settings were:

BEFORE: AFTER:

SEC SEC
30 20
FIXED THEN DECAY DECAY
FIXED MAP FIXED MAP
80.0 80.0
5 5
80 80

55 45
50 40
45 35
40 30
35 25
30 20
25 15
20 10
15 5
10 0

I copied Brains settings and car started right up quickly and seemed to idle fine. Warmed up ok to. There is too much snow here to test drive but it seemed good so far. My car was cranking for a long time and was not catching on before the before settings, and with new it catchs quickly. I will try it again in a few hours once the car is cold and the temperature drops here more and give you updates. So far so good.

Would you guys concur with my analysis or am I missing something. I didn't have my foot on the gas, so the throttle body shouldn't have affected MAP. Idle air is the only thing I could think of that would have caused that drop.

???????????

Bizzzump...????

I still haven't solved the problem. I'm thinking about switching the system over so that MS controls idle. Do ya'll think that would help/fix this problem?

Hey guys,
I just stumbled, luckily, on to this thread.

yertnamreg1218,
I'm in Columbus Indiana so we're dealing with the same weather conditions. I've had my MSPNP9093 running well on my '91 for a couple of months now. My car is basically stock with the exception of a CAI and Hi flow cat and cat back. I'm now in the middle of converting my intake to a modded JR CAI and removing the factory AFM http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=258486. I'll have to reflash my firmware and start over with the MS9093 delete afm base map. I'm hoping not to run into any idle issues, but if I do I'll be sure to refer back to this thread for some direction. When I was still using the factory AFM and the MSPNP I did have some serious idle fluctuations, but never any cold start problems, using the MS9093 with afm base map from DIY.

Scott,
Will your ASE settings be applicable to my setup without the factory AFM?

zarish,
Where are you located? Have you had a chance to drive with brain's settings yet?

thanks guys,
mark

I am in chicago, its freezing cold here, I had trouble just getting the car started lately but haven't driven it since is really icy on the the ground. The battery really is shitty on the miata I want to run something bigger and might be putting in a bigger battery, cause with the type of weather we have here that battery doesnt crank much. I will try to drive it or start it again today after work. I did finally get it to start up yesterday. Still having issues with cold start, but once it was running and warmed it, then it does idle pretty normal. Will update you again tonight.
