Default quick question re; fans mod

Hey guys, I am doing a bit of work on fenzy's ms trying to clean up some rough solder joints and find out what the hell is wrong with it. I have just removed and redone all the "mods", that is to say all the wires criss crossing the underside of the pcb and I am now up to the "fans mod". Now we have both done this mod to our ms's and we both have 92 cars and in both cases adjusting the temperature threshold in t-studio makes no difference whatsoever to when the fans turn on. I have looked at the wiring diag. for the car(s) and it looks to me like we are wasting our time with this one as the fans run from a simple temp switch on the rad. Is this the case? is this mod a 94 and up thing? should I just remove it all (and in my case make room for the ebc)?

The 1.6 excites the cooling fan relay by grounding the thermoswtich at the front of the head.

My 1.6 car ran the main cooling fan off the MS, and I tapped the existing thermoswitch to the a/c fan wiring via a SPDT relay. This allowed the 1st fan to come on at temp set by the MS, and the 2nd fan to come on by the thermoswitch or with a/c activation.

Thanks for the quick answer, no I am quite happy to leave it alone and let the thermoswitch control it. I can't think of any real reason to take control aside from "because we can". I realise that is a pretty good reason, but for the moment we have enough trouble with his unit and I would just rather cut down on possible failure points.
