You'll notice we don't have a "hydra" section on this forum, but we do have a MS forum. MS is a lot cheaper and will most likely do everything you'll ever need. Basically it's superior engine management at a reasonable price. Hydra is nice, but overpriced for the budget DIY'er that just wants to turbocharger their car and make HP.

What?!?!? Don't do much? They do EVERYTHING. For a turbo setup you need fuel management, timing management, and charge cooling. PC PRO does it all!!!

The PCPro is superior because it lets you use your injectors at 120% duty cycle, thereby cooling your intake manifold. The higher the duty cycle, the better. Anything over 100% is considered amazing.

You should also bump your timing to 23* advance for the best performance in boost.

The GreEdy kit really benefits from backpressure. To see the performance increase, unhook the vacuum/boost source to your wastegate actuator and go for a hard romp. You'll see what I mean.

P.S.: No, NOT really. Don't do ANY of that.

I was only able to make 300 rwhp with an MS on a stock 99 motor. I am considering going back to the factory ecu, but first I need to find a 94 MAF.

Well gosh Paul, there's your problem. Those 550's are WAY too big. How do you expect to get over 100% duty cycle with those things. Put in some 1.6 bluetops in and you should be GOLDEN.

Do I even need a turbo with PC Pro. I heard it will make it run like NOS,and increase gas mileage by 29%. Next year there is suposed to be a mod to dethaw the intake for idle at redlights.

I can't believe the sarcasm in response to an honest question. Nowhere on this forum's FAQ threads is it mentioned that MS is the superior fuel/spark management solution. Nor is the powercard mentioned anywhere in the FAQ, so your humor is probably lost on the guy asking the questions. Ah well, I guess its a different way of getting the point across.

The answer that JROCKS1 is looking for:

MS is the best bang-for-the-buck EMS you'll find on the market, bar none. It is, however, not a plug-n-play solution. The closest you'll find to that is the MSPNP, and that too needs some tuning (notice the correct spelling) before you make it run at 100%.

With MS, the amount of power you can make, safely, is only limited by your engine budget. In other words, due to its fully programmable nature, there are no real limits that would otherwise be imposed by the stock ECU. However, the potential for damaging your engine is quite high if you dont know what you're doing, as the MS will not lock you out of any of its settings.

In the Miata world you have three options as far as MS is concerned:

1) Build one yourself. Expect a few weekends worth of research and prep before you even start.

2) Get one professionally built from forum members Braineack or Cjernigan.

3) Buy MSPNP.

Even in case of 2 and 3, dont expect to plug it in and magically work somehow. Take your time, read up, and the whole process will go real smooth.

And the results wont disappoint you. There are plenty of people here with the stock Greddy (notice spelling again) setup who switched to MS, and probably wont ever look back.

Sarcasm is just another feature we offer here at MT.net.

Please drive through (notice spelling) lol
