FS: Fully built 1.8. Needs some work.
Hey guys, I have up for sale my recently built, 5k mile fully forged motor.
Specs:
-Stock refreshed 94 head with OEM valve seals
-Fully built 94 block by York Automotive in Mt. Airy, MD, purchased all parts new and have receipts
--Supertech 84mm 8.6:1 Pistons w/ Wiseco XX rings
--Manley H beam Rods
--ACL Race Rod/Main/Thrust bearings
--Boundary Engineering Stage II high flow Oil Pump
--ARP Head and Main studs
--all OEM seals and HG
Ran the engine for 5k miles before I turned boost to 14psi and the car started pushing blue smoke under boost. I have a conservative ignition map on my MS3x and run ID1000s and the engine did not run lean so I’m not really sure what happened. I was only 2 miles from home and haven’t run it since driving into the garage to test the compression. It drove fine on the way home, but the smoke was clearly indicating something was up. I swapped the GT2560r turbo for my shanghai turbo with hopes that it was just failed turbo seals, but the smoke remained. I have decided to do a V8 conversion and would like to move this motor rather than having it fixed myself.
Cold compression #s 160 on cyl 4, 175 +/- 2 on cyls 1-3
I’m betting that it was a failed oil ring as adding a tsp of oil into cyl 4 brought compression up to 167. With a bit of work this motor will be good for a lot of power. I clearly didn’t skimp on this build, and it shows by the parts list and having the labor done by a very reputable shop.
Asking 1000 for the longblock Picked up in MD. Will include valve cover and oil pan drilled and tapped for turbo drain.
