Need a hitch for pulling track tires?
I figure since I’m getting no bites on the car, I’ll try to get some money out of other places so I can drop the price. A lot of work went into this hitch. I don’t like to see the square hitch receiver on the back of a sports car. When I saw one of these Hidden Hitches years ago for a Saturn, I bought one for my Saturn. When I sold that, I used the hitch as a base, and formed this one to fit my Miata. I had NO IDEA how strong the steel was. The lateral support steel formed real easy and bolts to the holes where the tow hooks bolt to on a 1990 Miata. The longitudinal bar steel is very high strength steel. I not only had to heat it cherry red, but put a huge bar on it for leverage. I formed it around the stock muffler. You need one piece of angle on the rear suspension crossmember that can either be welded or bolted, and the hitch will bolt to that. I have the drawbar style ball mount that goes with it. It is very subtle, most won’t even know that it’s a hitch. I towed a motorcycle with it, which got a little scary in braking at times, but the hitch was plenty strong enough for the race bike. Asking $200 plus shipping. You can see pictures here:
