Another "what kit to get" question.

Another "what kit to get" question.
I have a '97 Miata
105k Miles
Daily driver, won't be tracked, just looking to make it more fun for the back roads
I am looking for
-165-180hp on a 1.8
-$3300 budget for the kit (preferably cheaper)
-Looking for something that won't require tons of maintenance
This is the best I've found but a bit pricey
Flyin' Miata : Turbochargers : 1996-97 : 1996-97 Voodoo turbo system

Learn the right way and DIY.
FM's DIY kit is $750, a 2860RS from TSE is $1059, intercooler kit + BOV is $160 from ebay, MSPNP is $800, ID injectors are $480, and you're only at about $3250, lacking only oil and water lines. And a setup that could support ~300hp. If your engine could.
Save $110 and get the 2554 for a "perfect" turbo for your $160-180 goal.
Save $860 and buy a used SR20 turbo for ~$100, and a gpopshop.com rebuild kit for another $100.
Save ~$300 and buy some used injectors and have them rebuilt.
Save ~$400 and buy a used MS from the forums.
What I'm saying is you could be at an amazing 200hp for about $2000 with room to grow. Just do it.

Im in the same situation as you justinmcgee1 except i have done a fair amount of research including reading Corky Bell's book on turbocharging which is a FANTASTIC book!
I too have a '97 with approx. 94k miles and looking to boost and have gone back and forth with which type of forced induction and then what company and i THINK I have come to the most logical conclusion that BEGI is the right choice and in my case the Shanghai S kit that starts @ $1,618 that will get approx. 140-160 rwhp with just a RRFPR(rising rate fuel pressure regulator). From there IF i go this route i will get a ebay intercooler(godspeed or the like) and intercooler kit and pick up some power and after that probably a exhaust. Anyways you can see how its a good basis. Everyone has their own skill levels and will decided to do the same thing a different way so you just have to figure out which will work for you and your wants/needs.
I think LOTS of research is key to being succesful.
