Question JDM Turbo kit

Hi,

I am interested in getting a turbo for my 97 Miata but cost is definitely an issue so I found this ebay kit. What do you guys think of this JDM 1.8L kit?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDMS-...spagenameZWDVW

I am thinking about running this kit with the Voodoo Box from Flyin Miata, will that work for this system. I am wanting to run about 8psi of boost.

It's junk. Nothing will fit correctly. Quality is absent. Believe it or not, a while back someone else on the forum asked a question similar to yours. To educate yourself in order to make an informed decision on your turbo setup, search the forum. I would start by reading the Stikys, FAQs, etc. Then go from there.

Mostly depends if your a DIY'er or a paycheck racer, or somewhere in the middle. 1800-1900 buys a Begi S1 kit that is high quality.

They'd just ignore it like they do the current FAQ...

What we really need is some kind of filter that catches the phrase "ebay turbo kit" and automatically replaces it with "complete piece of ****" and then redirects the poster to the FAQ.

Haha Joe. You could make a few different phrases get interjected, such as when saying "supercharger."

****

oh well, its just a shitty cannon(ink guzziling, paper feeding problems for fuking years)

realy tho, the ebay kit is ****, do some research. I bought a kit without doing any research. Its not nearly as bad as the ebay kit, but I paid too much for it, it had no fmu, and I cant figure out for the life of me wtf it is(exept that its a modified 3000gt/stealth turbo) At least everything fuking fit on the first try.

well thats a lie, I had to gap the hood because the intake pipe is stupid(I know its inefficient and ugly, but I dont overheat, and I dont feel like modding something im going to be taking off the car soon)

Thanks guys.. What you really need to do is get that Turbo Kits for sale thing off the bottom of this site. Thats where I found the kit.. along with a million other ebay kits.

Anyway thanks for the advise. I'll just wait and save up. :-)

^HAHAHAHA... I never thought of that. You're right. We're shooting ourselves in the foot here with the eBay advertising. I know it's needed to fund the site, but DAMN, no wonder all the noobs are confused.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh. Now it's making more sense to me why we've been inundated with all these questions about ebay turbo kits recently. After the initial brouhaha in the Front Desk (where half the posters apparently didn't realize that "miata guy" is a bot, not a user) I'd totally forgotten about those...

Well now, that does make things difficult. Rick is obviously not going to want to post a disclaimer in those areas, yet their presence here seems to carry an implied endorsement. We can hardly say to people "Why did you buy that hunk of crap?" when they saw it advertised on our very forum. I can't think of a good answer here...

The same mixed message issue occurred to me as well a few weeks ago. I think I was even reading an ebay turbo sucks thread and the ebay turbo kit ad was at the top of the page

For someone coming into this site cold I can see how they would infer the endorsement, that is that mt.n likes ebay turbo kits. Then they follow the link, look at the ebay ads, see the (false) claims of how great the kit is and what not, then come back here and post with a 'what about this kit' question. Then those here that know better smack them down, and the noob, with stinging cheek, is left pondering the mixed message

So maybe we should just all put 'ebay turbo kits suck' in our sigs?
