Default questions for owners of spa temp gauge

Anyone have a spa temp gauge? If so, can you do me a favor and tell me:
- If your temp sensor has red heat shrink wrap near the brass plug on the wire.
- How many pins the sensor side harness plug has. Mine has pins 3 and 4, but 1 and 2 are empty.

I have a spa gauge and it sort of works, but not really. It won't read on the 'tem' brass temperature setting (displays -77/FL), but it does on the 'thr' thermistor setting. The thermistor setting stops reading at 199.9 F which makes it useless for water/oil temps. I'm wondering if my sensor harness is missing a pin2 connection to tell the gauge it's present. I measured 6k ohm resistance across the sensor pins and after heating it up the resistance dropped - seems like it's working how I'd expect. I also sent the gauge back to spa and they said it works fine. I'm at a loss here and I don't always get timely responses from spa and know the problem is something retarded. I'm considering tossing a 1k ohm resistor in the gauge harness and see what it reads. I've tried multiple different 12V and GND sources with the same results.

Nevermind. I tried the main company's e-mail address in the UK and they said my gauge needs new firmware.
