Interesting radiator mounting idea
So I was watching a SEMA roundup last night on SpeedTV and saw what I think is an interesting idea for a radiator from Flex-A-Lite. I did not know they made radiators, but they were touting their new system for mounting accessories onto a radiator, or custom mounting a radiator to a chassis.
Flex-a-Lite Automotive Universal fit Flex-a-fit aluminum radiator with 17-inch core and lefthand inlet - Radiators
Pretty cool idea I think. For those who work with 80/20, you can see the similarity. There are extruded aluminum channels welded to the outside perimeter of the radiator where a nut and bolt can be slid in place and used to bolt on whatever anywhere along the channel.
Only problem is, they are not cheap.

Poor man's version of this would be to get a cheap EBay radiator and TIG on an 80/20 rail or the like (if you already have a TIG or know someone who does).
For those who do not know what 80/20 is, it is basically an awesome system of 'erector set' parts that can be used to build just about anything. We use it to build prototype systems here at work all the time.

I've used extruded aluminum tubes for computer board frames in the lab for many years. I don't think I would want to use that stuff in my car. I've had too many probing "shelves" that loosen up over time. Nuts and bolts are easier to see if they are coming loose with a glance than those tubes and associated fasteners. I guess you would always drill the bracket and tube; then safety wire together.
If you are going to TIG something to the radiator, why not just figure out proper tabs or whatever (with some vibration isolation)?
