Default Wider 23" Hoosier A7

Well....we did it.

I received confirmation from Jeff today that Hoosier is going to build a tire that is 1.25" wider than the 275/35/15 A7.

I will be called either a 305/30/15 or a 295/35/15 but it will be the current 275 mold with a "spacer"' in the center, so it will still be 23" tall.

They should be coming out of the mold ~May 1st.

I will post more details as I receive them from Hoosier.

That's the amazing thing about 3 piece wheels.....It's just a new set of barrels and you are good to go

15x11'' are so 2016 anyway... wow that will be some huge tires for such a tiny car... Will fit with a slight roll and a pull on NAs... lol

So how much does this shorten the average transmission life?

And yeah, 15x15. 1:1 already!

Nah 15x14.... Don't want to have wider wheels than your average MERICA C Prepared lumps.

What kinda tire temps are you seeing with your current 275's at the end of an autocross session? I would be concerned with trying to get a 305 up to temp in the A7 compound.

I can't imagine the challenges trying to get these to fit. I gave up on the 275/11" combo. Even with the Autokonexion Widebody it was more than I had the stomach for.

We havent had issues getting the tires to temp (expecially on the rear) on anything other than the coldest of days.

We are typically spraying tires after first driver's second run and for sure after 2nd drivers second run.

Then fitment on the rear will be no issues at all the fronts will require some "massaging" with a BFH. You will not be able to turn the wheel lock to lock......but if younare turning the wheel that much.....you arent going fast enough to need these.

We really need a reasonable transmission option so we can take advantage of all of the cool new Miata toys. I'm ready for 305s on 15x12s with a rotrexed k swap.

15x15, I always said Miatas are best with a square setup.

Anyone heard anything more on this?
A couple of months back I was told the tire was in DOT testing and few days ago I've heard rumors that in the end Hoosier decided to not make the tire. Truth?

I would check out this thread:
https://www.miataturbo.net/wheels-ti...7-92178/page3/

I believe the short version is they haven't officially canceled it but it is on hold. I would recommend interested parties keep bothering hoosier to show support for it.
