Im going to order my rims very soon for the track 1.6. I have fender flares so fitting a 15x9 wont be an issue. But if im running 250 whp is it really necessary? Do people run 15x8's in the front and 15x9's in the rear?

BTW this is a no flame zone.

15x9s are faster, order them. No reason to go with 8s.

What's the big deal with staggered wheels? I see no problem with 8" in front 9" in rear, I mean if you're auto-x then yeah wider all around, but street why not run stagger a lot of rwd cars do.

Why not keep all four corners as wide as possible for the most grip? I believe Emilio himself said the 15x9s were quicker hands down.

Actually I think if you were to stagger them and tested it you would find the car faster with 9’s in the front and 8’s in the rear rather than the other way around.

Staggered is just stupid if your running the maximum and equal size tire on all four corners and stiffer lateral compliance does more good on the front than the rear.

If you were doing something as silly as running 275’s in the rear and 225’s in the front then stager the wheel sizes but then again I doubt it would be faster.

From what Bob has told me 15x9s are even faster on the same 225 width tire than the 15x8s.

What kind of tires are you going to be running anyway?

Bought some 15x9's this morning. Ill be runnin 225's for my first set. As to which tire i still have some time to decide. I was thinkin the RS3's as well as BF goodrige gf sports.

Aren't R-comps ill advised for a beginner? Also, around here RA1s are preferred due to superior wet traction (from what i've heard).

You are right. For your first couple times out don't get R-Comps. They hide small mistakes that can become habit quickly. The RS-3 is an awesome tire and at $115 a tire from tirerack, it's not a bad deal either. I always go to Discount and tell them that Tire Rack has them for 115 and they price match.

Ya I love my RS2s on the track wet or dry so i'm pretty sure that the RS-3s will be even better.

I do wish I had a set of RA1s for autox though.

I got 15x8 but I am running a 205. Even then most say a 15x9 is faster O well I don't want to deal with rubbing

I have 15x9's with 225/45 RS3's... no rubbing other than one side on the swaybar at absolute full lock, not an issue.

Toyo R1Rs.

I am running 225/45/15. Very nice tire. I've run on Toyo RA1s, R888s, Falken Azenis 215s, 615s. The R1Rs are an excellent street tire. I don't know how they'd hold up at the track, but with daily driving and autox, I really love them. I drive pretty hard and felt confident in the rain. Then again, I drove on summer tires in the winter for many years.
