Can Tein basic handle 500lbs springs?
#3
Having owned basics, I can promise you it will be a bad idea. The stock front rate is about 390, and the dampers have okay control of that. But 500 seems quite outside the design realm.
IMO, pull rear bar (or use stock), and fix the inherent spring rate ratio issue first, then try and upgrade to something else. If I was going to change rates on basics, it would be the rear spring, as the damper clearly cannot handle it.

The Basics and the new Basis are street suspensions. No where near the low speed damping required for track or autocross. Basically, if you pull a helmet on, they're too soft. Tein Advance at minimum, or the new Street Flex which are great entry level track coilovers.
